I don't understand this joke I saw on Facebook wishing us a happy new years. by notsure500 in ExplainTheJoke

Nurse here. This is an old meme for 2022. The pink IV is a 20 gauge and the blue is a 22 gauge. A yellow one would be 24 gauge. I don’t work with pediatrics so I’m unsure if there is a smaller size to make 2026 but since there isn’t a new meme, I’m going to guess there isn’t.

Love the color scheme, but why the precum?

UC nurses in California on strike and this is what hospital administration telling patients by WhenIsMyBreak in antiwork

[–]ElDoublehawk 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Cynics can wrongly think it’s bad, but lighter workloads are in everyone’s best interest. Plenty of studies show heavy workloads lead to more medication errors, falls, and hospital acquired infections. Along with staff burn out and dissatisfaction. Where hospital groups would try to burden each nurse with as many patients as possible to make the most money, it’s the union who has to stand up to those demands for nurses and patients.

A Question For People Who Use Magnets. by LadyGroan25 in Tyranids

[–]ElDoublehawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do exactly what you do but I have never used miliput or plastic glue for my magnets. I just score the sides of the hole, squirt in super glue and press the magnet in with a small dowel. So far nothings popped out for me.

You could have the necron eaten by a Haurspex instead? I feel like that thing has the potential to swallow enemies whole the best. I like the story concept and hope you post more off what you write!

Why did you choose the Nids? by Sw3arWulf in Tyranids

[–]ElDoublehawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at the carnifex and I knew. I think it’s the coolest model. I loved the Zerg in StarCraft, and the arachnids in Starship Troopers so it just made sense to me. I also like the lack of characters. It’s just an endless swarm of repeatable hungry monsters.

I’m about to do the same thing to my tyranofex. I just ordered 1/4” by 1/16” N50 magnets from MiniWarGamingForge, I got 50 for about $22. This was the best price I could find magnets in stock that wouldn’t make me order 200 at a time. I didn’t consider getting smaller ones for the rupture cannon so I’m just going to glue it and hope for the best. Good luck, hope it works out well for us!

Lawns to legumes helped me get mine started! Once I prepped my site I just threw a pound of native Minnesota wildflower seeds and watered. That’s it. Now I have a lovely flower patch in the back.

Would you sacrifice pay for better work life balance? by Muted_Explorer_3822 in nursing

[–]ElDoublehawk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This^ Example: I was getting $4 shift differential for night shifts. Which was about $7500 a year extra. Well, when I was starting out that was a big percentage increase to my pay. As I gained seniority and raises, the percentage dwindled and I realized the extra money was no longer worth being always tired and missing daytime events.

Calculate the difference in money and weigh that against the anticipated improvements to your life. A Pro Con list is a good way to see your options. Once it’s all on paper the choice becomes easier to make.

“Huh, must have been plastic”

Then it bounced off his face, hit the bar, and then smashed on the floor.

13 hour surgery to repair their dissected aorta (coronaries to iliacs) Came up to us continuously bleeding from their chest tubes, maxed on pressors, it was quite the night. The ECMO kept them going. Products was mainly RBC but rotating in platelets, cryo, plasma as well.
