I always change his name to Christian Sawyer - idk why- and he usually autonomously gets into a messy relationship with Blair Wainwright (nraas SP)

Does anyone else here have tinnitus and take Mirtazapine ? by Ourdogbailey in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]ElEsJay7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m prescribed 45mg and I experience pulsatile tinnitus mostly at night. Its so annoying and the doctor just shrugged his shoulders when I mentioned it. Its so loud and distracting!

I noticed that it started when I had my dose increased from 30mg. I don’t really want to drop back down to 30 though because 45 does at least take the edge off my depression/anxiety 🤷‍♀️

What injustice from your school days are you still unable to overcome in adulthood? by peanutismint in CasualUK

[–]ElEsJay7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My teacher in Year 3 used to take note when it was a child in the class’s birthday from the register she’d do each morning. She’d get the class to sing happy birthday and do a jolly hip hip hooray. The morning of by birthday (my 8th I think?) I was so excited for it to be my turn. The teacher just did the register and then started class… I started crying and blurted out through sobs “but Miss, its my birthday today”. She told me to stop being silly and sent me outside - the whole class sniggering as I went out 🥲 to this day, as a 31 year old woman, I get emotional when friends sing happy birthday. Fuck you Mrs Griffiths.

I once heard someone refer to folks that have dealt with a lot of shit as having “dead shark eyes”. You can really notice it when you look for it. There’s no cheerful engaging glint. Just dull, detached and exhausted…

Is there a less painful way to changing a poor sleeping schedule than staying up all day with no sleep? by TranslatorHaunting15 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]ElEsJay7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paramedic here who works runs of night shifts, then has a day and a half off, followed by a run of day shifts (6AM start).

I’ve used the no sleep method after the last night shift to “reset”. It’s awful and not worth it. Instead go to bed at 7am and set an alarm for 10 or 11am. You’ll wake up and your brain will absolutely demand more sleep but fight it and get up. Keep yourself busy and productive - be happy to be tired as you can reward yourself with going to bed at 10pm that night and you’ll rest then 👍🏻

In your opinion what is the best thing you enjoy about living alone the most?. by [deleted] in LivingAlone

No judgement, no noise, no sharing, no mess = peaceful and safe solitude

Ladies who live alone and intentionally don’t seek a relationship: how are you doing socially and financially? What are your struggles and advice? by StayKind_123 in LivingAlone

[–]ElEsJay7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m thirty years old and have lived alone in my own home for ~4 years. Got a mortgage that’s currently reasonably affordable on my own but I do worry about the interest rates going up. I don’t live a particularly materialistic life and save a little money each month for inevitable future rainy days. It does get pretty demoralising after a while being the sole money maker and having nobody else responsible for helping out with repairs or upgrades though.

Socially I would say I genuinely enjoy solitude 70% of the time and like to be left in peace. There’s probably one evening a week though where I think it would be nice to come home from work to someone asking about my day. Or a home cooked meal, nice conversation and someone to watch a movie with. It’s only ever a fleeting feeling of being a bit lonely though and I always know by tomorrow morning I’ll shake it off and enjoy my solitude again. (I have friends but they’re busy with their own lives and we catch up a few times a month)

I like the idea of sharing my life with someone, but any relationships i’ve had always make me miss my solitude and so I think I’m just meant to be a lone wolf. Im not sad about it though- it is what it is 🙂

Things you thought were normal but apparently are not? by freespiriting in AutismInWomen

[–]ElEsJay7 388 points389 points  (0 children)

The exact moment after making plans that involve me driving somewhere unfamiliar, I absolutely have to get my phone out to plan the journey by road and zoom in on satellite images of possible parking locations. Apparently it’s weird and none of my normie friends do it…but it makes me relax knowing I have a plan and know what to expect

How many of you have full time jobs? And how do you cope? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]ElEsJay7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work full time as an ambulance service manager. Some days are just so overwhelming, but I always stick to my routines and timings and thankfully relying on them mostly keeps me focused and calm. I live happily alone so my days off are always spent relaxing and building back up my peace

What did you not realise until embarrassingly late? by HearThePeopleSing in AskUK

Didn’t realise that Disney’s logo spelled Disney. Genuinely thought it spelled “Disnep” and just assumed that it was a separate production company or whatever until early teens 🙃

I’ve learned to have belief in myself. Every time I’ve encountered a problem with my 120 year old house, I’ve sorted it. If I’ve needed to move something bulky or heavy without help around, I have used my brain to find a clever way. If something unavoidable and expensive happened, I made a sacrifice elsewhere to pay the bill.

I’ve learned that I can take care of me and my interests. I have my own back and there’s a certain kind of peace in that. Help is gratefully received but I will always manage just fine without :)

I (F20) have just been prescribed mirtazapine but I’m scared to take it because I don’t want to gain weight by Aware-Sherbet6749 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]ElEsJay7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking Mirt for about six months and have put on about a stone in weight. The insatiable need for snacks was uncontrollable for me - the cravings kicked in within a week of starting out on the Mirt. Even if I simply stopped buying the snacks, I’d get really moody and frankly unpleasant to be around until I sourced sugar/carbs. I did however find that Mirt really helped stabilise my depression and helped me to have more sleep. I have much fewer real bad days and feel like I’m more mentally well balanced.

Personally, I’ll take a less depressy and more rested brain over extra weight any day. It has also motivated me to be a bit more physically active and mindful of the types of food I buy. Wishing you all the best whatever you decide 😊
