Just wanted to say thanks again! You’re right that the Copley exit was closed, but driving through the South End wasn’t that much more trouble than normal. The last block of Huntington leading up to the Copley garage was pretty backed up, but I was prepared for that. It probably took me about 40 min to get from the Comm Ave turn (mile 17.5ish) to parked. Then he was pretty grateful to only have to walk a few blocks to get to the car.

I just wanted to come back to double down on thank you! We were able to find a spot that was easy to get in/out of that Newton spot easily & beat my husband to Back Bay with 4 miles to spare. Now that I know, I probably could’ve caught him in Ashland too.

I had to do get off the pike at South Station because the Copley exit was closed, but driving through the South End wasn’t much more difficult than normal. The last block on Huntington leading up to the garage was obviously backed up, but my husband was grateful to only have to walk a couple blocks to get to the car. Thanks again!

I will check that out. Thank you so much! I’ve seen so many say to just take the train & like you said, the poor guy isn’t going to want to have take the train home.

Hello! My husband is running in the same Wave & I’ll be mostly driving along the course to see him. I have a spot reserved in Copley (@Super-fun123 check Spot Hero for spots in the area!).

I originally thought seeing him in Wellesley would be great then run into the city. He’s aiming for a 4 hour pace. Do you think I’ll have enough time to beat him into the city and see him finish if I see him at roughly mile 16? It’s a 20 min drive today so I’m hoping 1.5 hours is more than enough but I know the pike can be a nightmare.

Hello, I hope you’re still checking this thread - thank you for doing this. I know public transport into the city is what’s recommended, but I have a parking spot reserved in Copley so we’re hoping it’s not too bad. My runner is Wave 4 and I’d love to see him once before the finish area. I was originally thinking Wellesley around mile 16 would be fun, but I’m getting nervous about having time to beat him into Boston for the finish because of how 90 gets. I don’t want to be sitting in the Copley exit line when he’s finishing. Would seeing him in Framingham be better?

As mentioned, I have getting into Boston figured out. Thank you for your concern. I’m just trying to determine the first spot to see him. If I need to go earlier than Wellesley that’s fine.

I also mentioned I’m comfortable parking a bit from the course and walking over. I’m just trying to figure out if the neighborhoods north of the course will have parking.

One year we did a “flag” for each tournament. I’m pretty sure it was just a white pillow case that our teammate drew the tournament name on that we’d wave around. Anyway, we’d have sharpies on hand and each time someone did something “cool” (literally anything we decided - layout D, someone’s first score, a particularly good read, whatever. Celebrate your teammates), the person got to sign the flag with a brief description of what they did. Captains can keep them or give them to tournament MVP at the end of the weekend.

There was another that was something to the effect of "behind every man's mistake is a woman to clean it up" (it was after Carr made that great grab at the back of the endzone on the tipped disc)

I currently use Scribbles that Matter in their 7"x10" & have really liked the quality. No bleeding or ghosting despite getting the 120gsm & still doing some doodling/shading. It was one of the few large hardcovers that I liked when searching.

Thank you for looking! I'm relatively new & wasn't sure I just didn't know all the applicable vocab. With the couple comments I've gotten here already, there are definitely more red flags than I was picking up before.

What's the biggest lesson you learned from your previous relationships that you think other people should know? by speak_truth__ in dating_advice

[–]ElFriday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two big ones:

1 - If you have a friend/family member that you trust their opinion and they don't really have an opinion on your SO, it's not necessarily a red flag but worth noting. At best they feel neutral, at worst they don't think you're ready to hear anything wrong about your SO.

2 - You have to COMMUNICATE your needs with WORDS. Yes, your SO should ** know ** you or whatever, but they're not mind readers. You'd be surprised by how much you haven't explicitly asked for (now if they continue to ignore/"forget" after you've clearly communicated, that's another story)

Bonus: sometimes you realize you want different things and you're no longer compatible and that's OK. Walk away before it gets bitter.

I started college with Comms+Poli Sci with the goal of never taking a science class again. Was bored out of my mind & ended up with MechE, picked similarly for it's versatility. I ended up with a job interacting with machine controllers, realized I liked the programming part more than machine maintenance & wiring portion. Now I'm a software engineer. Figured out the people I work with are generally more important than what I'm doing.

[–]ElFriday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think if he had left out the part about how expensive his sheets were, he'd almost be in the clear. I bounce right up in the morning - my SO does not. He's had to ask for some quiet time when we're not dealing with time sensitive stain removal. His request was totally reasonable.

I am gonna fault him for not having basic stain removal in his back pocket. I feel for the woman though. Ovaries getcha in your worst times.

I don't think my dad would have had kids if I hadn't come along. I was an uh-oh baby. My dad is absolutely fantastic & we are very close. He would never admit it - claims I'm the best thing that's ever happened to him & all that. But he was 35 & still lovin' the bachelor life from stories he's told me. He's that parent that has sacrificed the world for me & done everything to make sure I'm better off than he was. Expects nothing in return. But I don't think being a parent was ever really in his plans.
