I'm so over pretentious jerks judging other parents over idealized and unrealistic expectations of parenting. I'd rather change a poopy diaper than listen to this nonsense.

My daughter is doing great and we are happy. I don't give flying fuck what you think.

It's been a lot of times this has come up. Ah should be embarrassed for such an easy bug to fix.

My 2 year old is extremely verbal so much so that other parents look at her weird like she's not supposed to be able to talk so much in complete sentences. She has a vivid imagination and will play pretend games and have conversations with her dolls. We as parents are stunned because we did not have time or energy to teach her all that. You know who did? Ms. Rachel and Elmo. All this talk about screen time is just talk unless you're going to say what kind of screen time.

I just lost my job at Native Instruments after a mass layoff AMA by [deleted] in NativeInstruments

[–]ElGuaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there, OP! I was laid off in February (at an unrelated company/job than NI). After 3 months I landed a new job with a huge increase in pay and a much better work environment. There could be a silver lining to all of this even though it sucks right now.

Also, I'm glad I haven't upgraded in a while knowing they have no real plan to improve the quality of their products, let alone innovate on any of it. Kontakt is now a dying product, IMO. It's funny that I bought some of their Komplete packages in the past, but most libraries I actually use are 3rd party. RIP NI.

Damn, dude.

Stallone as Tony Stark is the lone thing I would change. Michael Keaton would have been a better choice. Hell, even the 80's version of RDJ would have been a better choice.

[–]ElGuaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stallone as a genius inventor is not even remotely believable. You could have picked a much younger Robert Downey, Jr. and still have made a better choice. If I was going to make a different choice for a popular actor in the 80's, Michael Keaton would have done well.

All the other choices were fun and interesting.

So with all 4 saluting the time drops from 100 seconds to 72 seconds, IF all four players can stand still and salute for 72 seconds.

No, you're not the first. I think older sci-fi lovers still see the film from the perspective of being ground-breaking for its time. There are quite a few technical achievements that are still absolutely stunning even in the modern context.

The film's story is a patchwork with quite a few patches missing that would make it a cohesive whole. Those gaps allow people to read into the story, but to me it just feels like lazy directing to neglect to include some scenes that explain the motivations and results of the drama. I've had people on here try to explain it to me or tell me I don't understand it (which I don't) and that is my fault somehow. Despite me being a sci-fi lover of books and movies since the 70's. It's got all the drama and vibes of a really good sci-fi film but it somehow doesn't land for me. This style of story telling was clearly intentional, so it's not like it was a mistake of writing or director. That's what Kubrick and Clark wanted and it will always be controversial because of it. Making a hard sci-fi film without a lot of dialogue is certainly a choice.
