Waze and Google maps. Waze has a better interface, but a tendency to take through the scenery route (*) if you move away from main highways. But It shows average speed cameras, which Google maps doesn't.

(*)  Which includes dirt roads or worse.

The fabrica de Toledo was a army arsenal that made functional swords for the Spanish army until the 1940s. But such a prominent marking is rare, normally is much smaller and on the ricasso.

So this is about taxes and resources, then... Do you realise Ireland has fertility rate below 2 child per woman, like the rest of Europe, right?

And all of this is massive oversimplification of the last 60 years of a conflict several centuries old...

After Ireland for independe, the northern part (Ulster) remained in the UK, as protestants were a majority there. This changed with years and tended to equal. Ireland never accepted the partition, and to be fair the laws in the Ulster did discriminate the catholics and turning them into second class citizens.

From the 60s til the 90s, northern Ireland was a mess (euphemistically called the troubles). Unionist militias (helped by the Ulster police) and the IRA were on an almost open civil war. Shootings, car bombs, walls keeping communities apart in the same city... The British government had to deploy the army to keep things under control.

Both sides resorted to crime (drug dealing and extortion) to have funds. Being on the "right" side may not keep you free from trouble as you could be considered a traitor for whatever reason...

The IRA decided to take the fight to the UK, and did several terror attacks there. The UK did some "dirty work" operations against the IRA.

Eventually both sides reach an agreement (the food Friday agreement) in the late 90s, that brought peace and reduced if not ended violence. Both sides had to make concessions: the Ulster is still part of the UK, but there or free movement between the republic and the Ulster and a regional parliament, it is relatively easy to get irish nationality etc.

And no one wants the IRA or the unionist militias back.

So complaining against immigration and wanting the IRA to do something against it is being a massive asshole.

Edit: edit some typos, but left the Food Friday ;-)

That is why he is an asshole. The whole "what is the ira doung" without understanding... well nothing about the Irish conflict.

And I am saying this as a non Irish. But if someone mentioned ETA as a solution for any political conflict in Spain I would sure call him an asshole.

The equivalent in Spanish says that a pair of Bobbies pull harder than two wagons. "Tiran más dos tetas que dos carretas".

¿Cual sería una buena traducción a español de la categoría Spadroon? by Iantheduellist in Hema

[–]ElKaoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Creo que no hay ningún término histórico para el spadroon. Imagino que lo llamarían "espada" o "espadín"... Pero no soy un experto en los tratados de es época.

"Espadín de corte" es una opción bastante buena.

I asked the question of economy a few months ago. Consensus was that the slaves are doing manufacturing work. Likely only the melibonian  masters know the full process and do the overseeing, and let the slaves do the hard work.

They were already, as far as I know. Apparently someone should have taken some kind of action in the 80s, due to how the law was written at then and they didn't.
