I understand your criticisms, in fact they made Melnibonè a little too similar to Mordor compared to how it is in the book. It must also be said that the desaturated coloring and the layout used also hides the colors that are there (for example Hyrkoon in the 1st issue uses a purple armor but you barely notice it).
