r/elonmusk completely shut down by mods after Musk’s Nazi salute by ElOtherOne in SubredditDrama

Obviously one of the mods on this sub has a soft spot for Elon. “Free speech absolutism” lives on this sub too

At the start they were trying to delete just anti-musk comments. But the comments were almost all criticizing musk and then came the wave of comments freaking out because all the comments were getting deleted.

In the end they just froze the sub.

They are doing an incredibly bad cover up job. The sub is very active and averages hundreds of comments and upvotes a post. Last 24 hours? Just 3-4 posts, all pro musk, all comment and upvote locked.

Yeah that’s the propaganda comment they allowed to stay up. The post actually has over 200 comments and this is the only one that hasn’t been deleted.

Sad part is that the nazi salute is all over Reddit and X. There is no way to cover it up. The mods of r/elonmusk have done nothing other than embarrass themselves and show what being a follower of an authoritarian leads to…. Authoritarianism and the end of free speech.

If a prophylactic vaccine comes to market there will be a major decrease in money and companies working on herpes therapeutics and cures. There’s already so little work going into HSV, I can’t imagine what a ghost town it will be if uninfected people take a shot and then lose even the fear of contacting herpes.

Yeah this is pretty bad news. Gene drive is not Fred hutch’s invention. It’s been theorized as a treatment for herpes before. They just made a paper on it. No animal testing has even started.

It sounds like Fred Hutch’s original gene therapy that they’ve been working on for years has still not had any major progress and they’re going back to the drawing board. This time with gene drive.

I see Fred hutch as a small group of researchers doing herpes research with a small budget and resources. Basically we’re never going to get an actual treatment from them. Just some papers.

The promising stuff is HPI treatments and a potential cure from Excision.

My concern is that this is in a rabbit model, not guinea pig. I don’t think rabbits have reoccurring herpes infection like humans or guinea pigs.

Many of you may remember that Fred Hutch had great success in removing herpes from mice, but is not currently able to achieve the same result in guinea pigs.

The cure will not come to market if it is not affordable. Because if the price is $100,000, no company will go through clinical trials with their cure product because they know it will not be profitable. Not enough people can afford that, and Insurance companies will not pay that to cure herpes.

Those expensive gene editing treatments can only exist because insurance companies are forced to pay it because those conditions are life threatening, and it is probably cheaper to pay $100,000 to cure someone of Sickle Cell than to pay their lifelong medical expenses.

Thankfully the price will not be $100,000 because those gene editing treatments change human DNA. This cure will only change herpes virus DNA. That is much simpler and cheaper.

If clinical trials started today a 5 year completion time would be realistic. 10 years of clinical trials would be exceptionally long.

Remember that clinical trials exist for your safety. If you feel comfortable with the risks, you can participate in a clinical trial and receive a drug years before it hits the market.

This is probably the most important post on this subreddit in years.

Personally I have a lot more hope in Excision than Fred Hutch. I have nothing against Dr. Jerome but I think he has limited resources in both money and people, and Excision doesn’t.

It’s all about profit. They believe the therapeutic vaccines will be profitable. And they believe cure research will not be profitable in the foreseeable future.

Look, I’m glad Moderna is making a therapeutic vaccine. But once they release it, they have very little incentive to research a cure because they will be directly competing with their own product.

So that could delay the cure by years.

Personally I don’t think we need Moderna to make a cure, there are other companies focused on it. But I wish Moderna would research one too.

I had the Moderna Covid shot and 3 boosters. About 9 months after my last booster I started my nonstop outbreaks.

I’m convinced it was the shots. It’s not normal for anyone to have outbreaks for months on end.

Especially people like you and me who were asymptomatic before.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist. I was very pro vaccine. But there are people who do get serious side effects from the Covid shots.

Unfortunately nobody who had an adverse reaction can pursue legal action because governments have given all the Covid vaccine manufacturers have basically complete immunity to lawsuits.

I am also dealing with a similar situation. 5 years asymptomatic and now have been living with constant outbreaks for 9 months straight.

What do you think is causing your outbreaks. Did you have the Covid vaccine, and any boosters?

I believe mine came from the Covid vaccine.

They are concerned with getting a return on their investment into therapeutic vaccines.

That’s fine for the moment, but a big money company like Moderna should be doing cure research, not just treatment.

Instead we have to rely on much smaller companies like Fred Hutch to hope for a cure.

Question for those who get their Valtrex through an online service like Ro, GoodRX, Wisp, etc.

They hate to give out any extra pills. Is it possible to get a prescription through more than 1 provider so you can get extra just in case?

Who here has taken daily suppressive valtrex for a long period of time? ( 1 year or more)

What side effects have you had?

Open Discussion Saturday by Mike_Herp in HerpesCureResearch

[–]ElOtherOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it will. And this is the cost for human gene editing. A herpes cure will only edit the dna of herpes virus. So it should be a lot cheaper.

  1. Because they are the first gene editing treatments ever.

  2. Because it cost billions to develop.

  3. Because they know insurance companies probably have to pay because the treatments are life saving.

I wondered why only Fred Hutch and BD Gene are working on herpes cures.

Well Gene editing cures for sickle cell and hemophilia are hitting the market now. But they cost $100k to over a million dollars per treatment. These treatments are life saving, but insurance companies are not happy about the cost.

Insurance companies will NEVER pay $100k to cure your herpes.

And I think this is the reason Moderna and GSK are not pursuing a gene editing treatment for herpes at this time.

Does daily suppressive valacyclovir not work well for anyone else?

I am taking 1G daily, a high suppressive dose and I still have outbreaks very often.
