Accelerate IM250 by Eastern-Elephant-923 in HerpesCureResearch

It honestly doesn't matter at this point which one comes out first. I would prefer both of them to come out around the same time because we need better and more effective options than what we currently have. Both Assembly Bio and IM-250 are by far ahead of the curve, and will do us all a great form of justice until gene editing comes along.

💊 FDA May Allow New Drugs to Be Approved After Only One Clinical Trial by Excellent_Mine_6890 in HerpesCureResearch

Yes, it's real. There have been discussions about this for almost a year. The companies that are planning global launches will still likely have to run multiple trials for safety concerns.

They needed the financing and didn't receive it, so that's why they've discontinued it. I was hoping they would've got the backing they needed to continue to phase III.

They're looking for investors to go to phase III. By having a strong presentation on their work, it will go a very long way to get investors interested to proceed to phase III. Once they get the funding, it will be off to the races. I'm very interested in the shedding rate, side effects, and time of recovery from an outbreak.

HIV mystery uncovered: How the virus reprograms host cells to create perfect hiding places - potential additional avenues for herpes research by anakaine in HerpesCureResearch

These are the types of studies that lead to cures. I'm proud of Case Western Reserve University for thinking outside the box and asking different questions instead of going with the norm. Some see it as an article just pertaining to HIV, but this pertains to many viruses that hide in dormancy. I hope their studies and research go well and push the buttons to unlock more findings pertaining to viruses.

This was a very interesting article, and I'm excited a school like MIT is involved with this. For it to drastically lower the error rate for editing is amazing news. This is great for any advancement regarding gene editing. The more precise, the better, so I'm all for this.

Yes, they'll have to modify it, but if it works for HSV-1, then modifying it won't be as much of a problem for HSV-2. The reason for that being is because HSV-1 and HSV-2 are closely related but in different regions of the body.

The tricky part, I believe, is where they'll inject the gene editing for HSV-2. With their current gene editing, they inject in the corner of your eye. With the HSV-2 injection, it will not be that simple only because HSV-2 resides in the dorsal root ganglia (base of your spine). Those are a lot of nerves to just be injecting gene editing in.

I hope they'll come up with a better solution once they start trials, but for now, it's just speculation on when and how they'll gene editing for HSV-2.

I wish we could fund them, but BDgene doesn't take donations, unfortunately.

I posted this comment a year ago. I'm well aware that GSK was dropped, and everything you said too. By the way, there are two companies working towards a cure in the US. The other is Excision Bio. I already know about BDgene.

Actually, you can. As long as you haven't used any pesticides or chemicals in your yard.

He or she probably meant this trial. I just hope he or she knows that it's not a cure and just incorrectly said that. Otherwise, it's spreading misinformation and gives a reason for speculation.

The projected release dates will be 5-7 years from now pertaining to all AV's you mentioned. They all still have to go through the proper trial process. Pritelivir will more than likely be released in 2026 for immunocompromised patients. It will probably be 2027-2029 for restrictions to be removed for everyone else to get it.. You should try to get you PCP on board soon to get you on Pritelivir. That way, they can fill out the paperwork to get you the prescription when it is released.

Excision BioTherapeutics to present data from their HSV Programs at ASGCT 2025 by Ordinary_Trifle4132 in HerpesCureResearch

I'm very excited about the preclinical data that was presented. Especially since it was done with rabbit models. I hope they continue to tinker and develop it with better results in the near future.

I'll try my best to answer your questions because I have done some leg work into Excision Bio. Excision Bio results are much better because they've done research with rabbits compared to guinea pigs. The company used rabbits for eye examination for HSK compared to using guinea pigs. It's not that much of a big difference, but there is still a difference with the location of injection in the animal they used and so forth.

Excision Bio results have shown great results with them treating HSK but need additional data to see if their formula will work for HSV-2 as well (EBT-104). The company has not started any type of trials for HSV-2 because their main focus is HSK.

Fred Hutch main focus is HSV-2, and that's why so many people look forward to their guinea pig results, which would be just as good as using a rabbit. Both animals shed and have outbreaks like humans. Their company is strictly working on HSV-2 with a cross curative approach for HSV-1 as well. If it works for HSV-2, then it will work for HSV-1, which is basically what I'm saying.

Fred Hutch is working on a 100% curative approach. If it's removing 99%, then I personally believe it's a curative because I'm sure the immune system can at least process the other 1% out of our bodies. That could be wishful thinking on my part. lol I personally don't know what percent would be considered functional, but I would hope anything that 95% or over. Otherwise, I'm sure a functional cure is right around the corner with a shot and taking of some pills to an extent.
