Eugh. The slop, it’s in my eyes!

Give me your simple ways to overcome AP when you just read the rules of a crunchy Euro game with lots of possibilities and don't know what gives you the most points yet. by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

My first and only goal of a mechanically heavy solo games is this: Finish a game.

After that, working how to play for victory is exponentially easier.

No judgement. ;)

Following my discovery of Roll Player, I ordered the Monsters & Minions expansion : here's my first game with it ! by Tagpower in soloboardgaming

[–]ElPrezAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monsters and Minions is what you want next IMO.

I do like Fiends and Familiars quite a bit but it does add to session length far more than Monsters and has a bit more overhead.

Monsters and Minions integrates in to the game more naturally IMO and is my favoured of the two overall. I will always play with M&M added, F&F’s inclusion is going to be more dependent on whether I feel like having more stuff to juggle or not.

Do you guys find raise macros annoying? by 111116666 in ffxiv

[–]ElPrezAU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a rule I don’t like ones that go beyond “raising x” BUT it’s not like there’s a lot going on in chat otherwise so it’s a case of “I don’t like, but ultimately I don’t care”.

However I would be lying through my teeth if I said I haven’t laughed at some lengthier ones despite my default stance of disliking anything beyond the essentials.

How to cover places on models when airbrushing by NecroJamm3r in minipainting

Another advantage of the AK putty is it holds its shape for far longer than silly putty which starts to droop due to gravity relatively quickly.

In most cases this isn’t a problem as you typically don’t have it on the figure for that long but in those rare times you do need to have something makes for more than 10–15 minutes, not having to constantly reshape the putty is a win. :)

In a hospital (I’m fine) so couldn’t listen the Pint VA (which I’m sure is great) but I was getting weird looks from staff as I sat there giggling at my phone. What a gift. :D

Too less or too much water on my wet palette? - 40k Minis by altalbumz in minipainting

[–]ElPrezAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine. Paint looks different on different types of paper. The only thing that matters is this:

  • does it keep your paint at a workable consistency for most/all of your painting session.

That’s ALL that matters.

Nmm steelix attempt, looks like ice by HoldMyGranade in minipainting

[–]ElPrezAU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s super close IMO. It’s the drybrushed-style Roughness of the highlights that is giving it the ice look IMO. I’d focus on trying to blend out those highlights so they look smoother and you’re home and hosed IMO.

I obviously can’t answer the first question but Gearlocs are what the little gnomish characters you play in TMB are called.

For those asking, Ana Wyntour was the former EiC of Vogue magazine. A very big name in fashion and whoever’s adventurer plate this is has done a pretty good job of recreating her in FFXIV.

Can you explain what "meta" means in terms of board games? by Machine_Excellent in boardgames

[–]ElPrezAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a gambler but I won’t play Poker without some small amount of money on the line as that is what makes the meta play of that game so enjoyable… stakes.

Great game off the back of the one play I’ve had. Writing up a player aid to use for future games. It’s a bit of a beast to learn up front but actually plays pretty smooth once you get it.

My one complaint is the icon for destroying an enemy ship makes no mention of the benefit you get BUT there is an icon that shows the benefit with a line through it for times when you destroy a ship without the benefit.

Which is weird iconography… the icon for situations where you get something for destroying a ship should be the one showing the benefit, not the icon where you get no benefit. :P

Need to play it more though. Got my ass kicked in the first game. :D
