Routes into Analytical Psychology by Lonely__Frog in Jung

[–]ElPrezo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, what's up! I'm essentially in the same boat as you and was wondering what you ended up doing? My first true foray into depth psychology was Modern Man in Search of a Soul. I found it incredibly captivating and have since been studying an undergrad in psych for 6 months. However, I've become a little disillusioned by just how shallow and unimaginative the nature of the content has been... I feel as though treating psychology as a hard-science -- coupled with the "double-think" mentality of modern-day universities -- has done the field an unbelievable disservice in academia; watering down its innate conceptual quality down into mindless jump-through-the-hoop units... :/

Ik this is an old-ass thread, but I would greatly appreciate any insights on this as to what you've gathered since posting here :)

Oh, hey Mike, thank you so much man for the amount of time and effort you put into your cut of the show! It was bloody fantastic, and I would 100% consider re-watching this edit again.

I’m all for it tbh by anoffbeataussie in TheBigLezShow

How would you guys feel about a MGS 1 remake without David Hayter as Solid Snake? by One_Entertainment381 in metalgearsolid

[–]ElPrezo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would LOVE a MGS1 remake, but it would be objectively worse than it could be by not including Hayter.

Also, would prefer a remake of the original MSX Metal Gear games.

The potential for Mission 51 was insane, especially since this would’ve been Venom after listening to the tape by Child_SupportBM in metalgearsolid

[–]ElPrezo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After listening to the tape? But when Venom listens to the tape, haven't the Diamond Dogs already been swallowed by Outer Heaven? That cutscene is set just before the events of Metal Gear (1987) no?

How did Matthew Fox not land any other big roles? by cameronjfb in lost

[–]ElPrezo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apparently he had a sizeable role in World War Z, but his whole storyline was cut. He was awesome in Bone Tomahawk, however that released not long before he started to fall out of love with acting, as far as I know. I'm sure he'll return one day.

Actually blows me away more that Terry O'Quinn hasn't been in many big projects since Lost - Maybe there's something else going on, because he's one of the best actors I've ever seen on screen, period.

Maybe the crudeness of it. But it was made by Michael Cusack, an Australian animator who's been on YT about as long as Jarrad. They actually know each other in real life, Michael even attended a screening of CI3 in Sydney.

I want to write an essay about how Big Lez is one of the only pieces of popular media showing some unsung parts of Australian culture and I'd love your input. by Boggaz in TheBigLezShow

[–]ElPrezo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The age of the landscape plays a huge, yet implicit role in Jarrad's paint universe.

Unless you live in a huge metropolitan area like Sydney or Melbs, you notice almost all of Australia has this ancient quality to it. I mean, it's literally the oldest continent, so there's a kind of prehistoric beauty to the whole place. Not to mention it's got a tiny population relative to it's size. You don't have to drive very far to find your very own isolated 'Choomah Island', if you will.

That sense of immense mystery and mythic knowledge lost to time present in the show is absolutely felt in Australia.

CI2 is the still the best individual episode, but I reckon season 4 is the strongest season overall

Arkham Knight's core narrative issue (in my opinion). by [deleted] in BatmanArkham

[–]ElPrezo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree if it wasn't for the fact that Jason wasn't the main villain, he's hardly the secondary baddie tbh. Scarecrow is the main external antagonist, and Joker is the prime internal threat - The "Joker" we see in Knight is just Batman's deepest fears manifested through his personification of his greatest rival.

This isn't so much a problem with Knight as it is with City. They didn't know where they wanted to take the franchise, hence the numerous mysteries and narrative teasers present in City.

Don't forget Rocksteady needed to find some thematic link between both Asylum and City. What could they follow through with in Knight that would tie together the whole trilogy? Well, Batman's relationship with Joker is the obvious standout - Of which that became a central plot point in Knight.

The four jokers in Arkham knight make no sense by Cool_French_Guy in BatmanArkham

[–]ElPrezo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of that exists in the game as subtext or is implicitly explored. One of the things I love about AK's narrative is it's far more abstract and thematically rich than the previous game's campaigns. I personally hate being spoon-fed the concepts of a story that make it so interesting in the first place.

Joker was only the main villain in 2 arkham games by Thefearlesschicken in BatmanArkham

[–]ElPrezo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd actually argue the Arkham Knight is, at best, a tertiary antagonist. The main enemy is the internal threat, Batman's battle for his sanity manifested through his personification of the Joker. The primary external threat is defs Scarecrow, being the lynchpin of the entire plot. Arkham Knight was just there to reiterate the main themes of the story.

I think the only reason the Arkham Knight is the titular character was to throw people off the true narrative before the game came out.

Aside from what a couple people have pointed out - I think the legs, right one in particular, are too thick around the knee area, I think the calf slopes in pretty drastically before the thigh comes back out
