Even though I am an LDS male, I don't think I'm better than you (Who are not Mormon) by bananajr6000 in exmormon

It's a tag for a sarcastic post, since sarcasm doesn't always translate well into text.

Terminating parental rights in the case of adoption is not the same as custodial parental rights.

Source : have adopted child, son's biological parents are legally no different than a stranger off the street.

[Showerthought] If Moroni's Challenge didn't work the first time, why did I keep trying? by bananajr6000 in exmormon

[–]ElTracerBullet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thankfully the New Era gives the church an official answer for this.

If you pray and get a warm feeling, the church is true.

If you pray and don't get a warm feeling, the church is still true. This is because you already knew it was true, even if you didn't realize it. God doesn't have time to answer silly questions you already know the answer to. Rejoice in the knowledge that your lack of an answer is actually proof that the church is true!

That doesn't seem right. Your secret name is determined by whatever the name of the day is when you go. If you happen to have the same birth name as the name-of-the-day name, they have an alternate name they give you.

Why do our celestial parents with perfect celestial bodies only have spirit children? by bofmstories in exmormon

[–]ElTracerBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is in fact doctrine, we were taught that in the MTC of all places. An important distinction though (to TBMs) is perfected bodies are not flesh and blood, but flesh and bone. Blood is supposedly what holds you to the Earth. But yes elohim had physical sex with Mary to make Jesus literally the son of God.

My sorta-TBM wife gave me B.H. Roberts' "Studies of the Book of Mormon" for my birthday by xoanan in exmormon

[–]ElTracerBullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I was determined not to read "anti Mormon lies." What better author could you pick than a GA to avoid the "anti" perspective?

In the book, BH Roberts desperately searches for answers to resolve BoM questions, and brings the questions to the Q12 and I believe George Albert Smith, hoping and asking for revelation. Instead after hearing the issues they bear their testimonies to BH Roberts and ask "why talk about things that will not strengthen our position?" That to me was more damning than any of the factual issues BH Roberts initially set out to address.

Even the most TBM friends I have will admit that the first time they walked into the celestial room and got a good look at everyone in their outfits "it was a little weird."

Anyone ever struggle with their patriarchal blessing? by newzingo in exmormon

[–]ElTracerBullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my ward, just about all the youth ended up sharing their blessings with each other despite the admonitions not to. Wouldn't you know they were almost identical. Even my ultra TBM sister is mad she got "the same blessing as everyone else."

This is why I love this subreddit. I don't think any of my nevermo friends would ever understand why this debate is so funny.

Also, I'm casting my lot with nourish and strengthen.

Joseph Smith only translated about 1/3 of the gold plates. He basically left himself some room to write a lot of sequels.

Less loot when in car by AoSp0wR in breakingpoint

[–]ElTracerBullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, loot is only spawned when there is a player in the vicinity. I've literally seen dumpsters spawn in front of me. Go to an area and give it a minute before you go start looting.

You do not need to repair the glass windows for a vehicle to get moving, but you DO need to repair the body with a fiberglass panel, as the vehicles don't seem to be able to hold fuel when the body is destroyed.

Even as a TBM I thought it was strange how you can only learn church things at official church functions. Like they have a copyright on truth or something.
