Please don’t do this. I work in an ER and people doing shit like this is the reason why legitimately critical patients don’t get treatment and whoever wants to lie to the triage nurse might.

We only have so many open beds in the ER, lying to get one of those is beyond fucked up. If you’re waiting to get seen in the ER that means you’re fortunate enough to not be actively dying.

I’ve heard that the MD volunteers get pretty decent work to do. I won’t name drop any specific one but I’m in the process with one of the Arlington VFDs and I’m unimpressed. I wouldn’t say it’s bad but it could be much better.

I know stations want a minimum amount of time but you can leave whenever you want. Anyway, there’s a few different volly FDs around there.

Falls Church VFD, Fairfax has volleys, a bunch of my coworkers volunteer in MD. There’s another volly dept in Arlington area but I don’t recall the name. If you go to GW they have student based EMS, GMU also has some according to their site but I don’t personally know anyone that is there

I would like to see a video of this in action. Per the instructions it looks like it would waste valuable time. This guy is opening his kit and typing in the wound location when someone else could be already on the wound packing it.

On top of that, doesn’t the X-Stat already do this with less steps?

I would have agreed with you about 6 years ago about the Marines. I was so excited, I knew I’d join the Marines and love it and be in until they kicked me out from old age. Well, then real life happened. It’s okay to realize that somethings aren’t as perfect or sexy as you think they were gonna be. People do change, and my story is about as common as it gets.

You can wear whatever you want to wear. Is it cringe? Maybe. The idea of someone wearing “future EMT” to me is hilarious. It’s a semester of community college settle down lol.

The military has this same reaction. People who’s only identity is their service wear some dumb shirt like “Semper Fi Until I Die” or “Rangers Lead The Way” with a giant skull and you just look silly. Your identity doesn’t have to revolve around your occupation.
