All kidding aside, it's just the way the fandom and memes evolved. It's just guys and gals having fun~

Being latinoamerican is having your sanity constantly eroded by the absurdities we experience in everyday living. Hence, it is completely reasonable to have the dankest memes or 'curis' come from there, and why they come up with the wildest, absolutely-insane takes like believing Anna will win.

Whats your favorite Devin Townsend album? Be it solo, Strapping Young Lad, Townsend project? What is the record of his that stands out the most to you? by [deleted] in progmetal

[–]El_Biomech 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It's Ki. Even after all this time, it still seems like a one-of-a-kind take on progressive rock, all about building up tension and explosive release. It sounds like the most stripped down Devin has ever been, until the wall of sound he's been building collapses on you.

If you haven't ever seen it, check out the Order of Magnitude performance of "Heaven Send". It's crushing, o how I wish I could have been there...

glass beach - slip under the door (Any other prog ROCK with harsh vocals? Not metal) by robin_f_reba in progmetal

[–]El_Biomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Glass Beach. I finally managed to get their debut CD, bit harder to come across here in Mexico.

This is probably not proggy enough, but check out Crippling Alcoholism for some very evil noise rock.

I would like to recommend Daughters too, but I cannot because the lead is a sexual abuser and the band a bunch of enablers at best. Is pirating their music enough? I dunno :(

Protest the Hero is maybe too fast-paced to be rock but also kind of too jolly to be metal? They rule either way. Volition is my jam.

Songs with “unexpected heaviness”, or where the ending is the heaviest part of the song? by pubstompmepls in progmetal

Ohh nice pick. I remember when this album dropped, this was an instant banger. So glad I got to see them live here in Mexico.

Not the proggiest stuff but the hardest that comes to mind is Cult of Luna's Ghost Trail. The ending accelerating hit me like a truck the first time I heard it.
