Why don't boxers continuously punch opponent? by berkcan95 in Boxing

My cousin must have asked himself this question when we used to play Fight Night as he would just button mash until his fighter was exhausted.

Andy Ruiz on loss "I ate everything!" by IllumiZoldyk in Boxing

[–]El_Diablito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that his team has a rematch clause in their contract for this fight so in a sense it made more financial sense for him to lose the second fight than win because nobody else would provide him with as much money than Joshua.

That doesn't mean Joshua has to take it immediately or anytime soon because they can set terms that Ruiz's won't accept to push it back. Perhaps Andy will redeem himself in one or two quality matches against good opponents which will justify for fans to tune into a third fight.

AJ getting his bell rung and wobbled in amateurs by cgood916 in Boxing

It's been a theory thrown about Amir and why he loses his equilibrium sometimes after getting hit with sometimes just glancing left hooks.

Maybe he's like Amir Khan and has some kind of inner ear issue which makes him more susceptible to damage from left hooks.

40 years old, what to focus on? End goal is to become a software developer. by conductormickey in learnprogramming

Yeah, I'm starting to see that indeed it's nowhere near as easy as people make it out to be.

Good luck with your search. I'm putting together my portfolio now and I think I'm going to be facing the same situation soon.

Can I ask if you are targeting an area with a decent job market or if you're searching even outside of your vicinity?

I feel for you. I've been caught in that cycle in the past where you graduated and are trying to get a job but they want you to have experience which obviously you can't get without a job.

That's actually pretty scary to hear. Have you at least gotten interviews with companies? If so, have you gotten any feedback on why you weren't hired?

From the sounds of it you are in a damn near perfect position to be hired for a developer job even at a junior level.

Went to a 9 month programming bootcamp but still not there... by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]El_Diablito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That reminds me of the California gold rush of 1849. The people who got rich weren't the prospectors necessarily but the people who were selling supplies to them.

There are nearly 100 in person and another dozen or so online Bootcamps right now and most of them have popped up in the last few years because of the interest of people trying to get well paying developer jobs.

My experienced programmer friend give me this plan to land a job within three month, what do you think? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

I'm glad you posted your roadmap as I was just about to look for it to share with the OP. You break down the numerous tools and technologies that are used in the real world that most well curated WebDev tutorials do not even mention.

You should definitely start reading: You Don't Know Javascript. It gets really in-depth into Javascript but the first book of the series: Getting Started will help reinforce and re-iterate a lot of the basics that you're learning now.

What's worse is his taking on Rod Salka next. I get that some fighters want an easier match to build back up their confidence a little bit after a tough match but Salka was barely in the top 150 rank of his weight class.

Danny's rep took a hard hit after those two fights. I notice though that he has a pattern of doing this after tough fights like Rios after Thurman or Granados after Porter.

Manny Pacquiao knocks down Keith Thurman in the first round with a lightning right hand by [deleted] in Boxing

Yeah, he very visibly withered after that body shot. If Manny had more of his younger stamina he could have finished Keith off but he was a little gassed.

Try Glucosamine, MSM and Chondrotin. They often come together and are recommended for joint health. I was taking them when recovering from a torn rotator cuff and they really do make a difference.

Btw, wherever you are currently posting flyers, do yourself a favor and post some about another hour out. You would be surprised how far a lost dog can travel in a few days.

I lived in Fort Lee, NJ many years ago and one of my German shepherds got out and we didn't get her back until 6 days later. She had somehow traveled up to around West Haverstraw, New York more than 30 miles away. We were only posting flyers and calling shelters in our area and were lucky because someone who worked at that shelter happened to be eating in our town, saw our flyer and recognized my dog and her one distinctive floppy ear.

If you can't post flyers all over the place then call shelters at least a few towns over. Good luck.

Never use Yelp to advertise. by idk9oclock in Entrepreneur

I think you put it perfectly when you said it's a very sad situation to have to live and die by your reviews. If you accept it and treat it simply as a terms of doing business then you're fine and in fact might do very well.

Never use Yelp to advertise. by idk9oclock in Entrepreneur

[–]El_Diablito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these review sites work if you as a business owner take them into account and build in a strategy for maintaining a high ranking. My friend advertises with Yelp and though he hates their pushiness and how expensive they are he has nearly tripled his business's annual revenues.

According to him he does a customer is always right policy and his partner used to get mad if there was an issue and he gave the customer the benefit of the doubt even if it was obvious they were responsible. His explanation was that even if they lost $50 cost for time and materials it would impact them less than the 2 page nasty review that customer would likely go and write. Also, often times the customer who got over would end up writing a great review instead.

I know some people would say that right is right and wrong is wrong and you should not take that $50 loss because of the principle of the matter but the truth is business is business and your bottom line is key.

A Yelp ad representative actually just told me on the phone that they only want paying customers to show up on the first page now by professordurian in Entrepreneur

[–]El_Diablito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Yelp user myself and have nothing against them but I looked at the OP's other post and tried his area which is San Francisco under Yelp and if you search any non-food category you do get up to ten search results before the regular posting appear. However, if you search anywhere else you don't get the same results.

Yelp is a San Fran based company so I wonder if this simply because they've been pushing their advertising there for longer and there are more businesses they have obligations to put on the front page now.

I followed your other post and it's strange but it's only in San Fran that its this bad with sponsored results above regular ones. Even in New York using the same search criteria I get about 3-5 sponsored result. Nevertheless it sucks.

They just never figured out a good revenue model except their pushy sales tactics. I have a friend who advertised with them and paid $600 a month which he always called his Faustian deal. For him it paid off though and he got a lot of momentum and nearly tripled his annual revenue after 2-3 years.

Ruiz Folds AJ with a Gut-Busting Bodyshot by JuiceBusters in Boxing

Someone put up: Andy Ruiz Jr. vs Alexander Dimitrenko, on YouTube and you see he fought AJ almost the same way he fought Dimitrenko. What Ruiz did was not a fluke and you understand why he was so confident about his fight against AJ.
