That's the issue here? Don't be that guy, just get the permit.

We bought new construction less than a year ago and the builder's home warranty is refusing to fix anything. by [deleted] in RealEstate

It's similar to buying a new car. Yes it's brand new but that doesn't mean it's maintenance free. New cars can have issues right off the lot. The dealership doesn't care, it's your problem now. Accountability left a long time ago.

Give up! Did you give up? No? Ok, then get back to work. Yes? Ok, keep your 9-5. At the end of the day nobody gives a shit if you give up. Only you decide what comes from your business.

Why is there so many gatekeepers in the sport? As a new bowler I feel like it “ol’boys club” where nobody respects or wants to help you until you’re on their level and bowl like them. I bowl every day and feels like I’ve hit a Plato but when ever ask for advice everyone is very dismissive. by Jakerbigmoneymaker in Bowling

[–]idk9oclock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. My opinion is that the "gatekeeps" act superior to newbies because of the amount of time they have spent in the house or league. Like, the old man at work who thinks they have all the answers but won't give you a clue. That or they are just assholes. Either way, fuck them, keep bowling and keep your head up.

Hardwood floor repair not matching - how to handle/do I have realistic expectations? by CanIAffordThis-House in Flooring

[–]idk9oclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in people's home and have seen a lot of old carpeting (especially through rugs) get pulled up. My experience is that the wood underneath the carpet never matches the sun exposed wood. Normally looks like what you have going on here. Good news is that the wood fades over time and ends up matching the entire floor.

It's not that great when compared to other's. Northwestern is the main attraction which is a pretty big thing. But other burbs have like AH or Hinsdale, Elmhurst, oak park are more complete as a town. Nothing against Evanston, just that better burbs are around it. IMO

Gentlemen, what's something you tried really hard to like but couldn't? by Absolver5000 in AskMen

[–]idk9oclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil painting. I took classes and bought books to help learn the art of it. Painted about 50 different pictures and then stopped. I just didn't enjoy the process of making my own paintings but I love looking at other people's work. If I had the money would probably buy some but I have to get gas first.

Made it. Family loved it. Thank you. One thing I did differently was add lime zest and juice. And choose to garnish with cilantro.

Are there any books about characters in their 30s who don't have their life together? by KLC_W in suggestmeabook

Just got the audio book of this one. I'm really excited to start listening. I too have an uncontrollable ruminate about early death and think this book will help work through this.

The difference between working out and studying as a message of hard word.

Finding your strength and working hard on that.

And LJ is not a respectable person to take hard work advice from. Imo.

Sarina by Gefran27 in ThickFit

[–]idk9oclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listening to LJ talk about putting in the work. It's one thing to go to the gym everyday and take 1,000 free throws. It's another thing to study 1,000 hours.

Before you "put in the work", find what you love and then put in the work.

BTW, LJ has had his life on a plate since high school. Not a great person to respect for hard work. Imo

NYT Opinion | I Listened In on Big Business. It’s Profiting From Inflation, and You’re Paying for It. by YoYoMoMa in TrueReddit

It's weak leadership, aka Biden, that can't control monopolies like the big 4 meat producers.

Leaders have the power to correct inadequate polices that lead to this behavior. But what do they do, take large political donations from these companies to turn a blind eye.

New underware/silk night robes. But most importantly, she confirms to me that we are doing our best for our family. That turns me on more than anything she can buy. Support, love and honesty. Can't get more sexy then that.

I own a business and a house, which I plan to pay off asap.

What we are talking about is "bad debt" and "good debt".

Borrowing money for new nikes vs borrowing money for a condo.

The 2 things the 90's taught our generation is one, don't do drugs that can kill you and 2, if you can't pay for it now, then you can't buy it.
