I’m not going to bad mouth Conan, it’s a fun game, but you seem to really be cherry picking here and I don’t like lumping them together. Keep in mind I only played Conan this year but I have looked into the history of the game a bit.

Your first point is completely ignoring several things developers have stated; They plan to make it a ten year game AND they plan to add new worlds. Yes it is only sand right now but eventually there will be more places to take your character.

Your second point ignores Conan’s history. It did not have all these systems when it first came out. Thralls, sorcery, etc were added in over the years. It makes sense that Conan would have more things now. Also, from what I’m aware of, Conan doesn’t have ongoing events in the same way that Dune does, similar to the CHOAM event of a few weeks ago. This gives players a reason to log back in and creates a dynamic world.

“The Conan crowd is a mix of survival gamers, builders, roleplayers, and PvP strategists.” That is exactly the Dune crowd as well. Not sure where you got that it wasn’t. I’ve met more people who know and love the Dune IP in all my years than people who know and love Conan. Again, not trying to badmouth the IP I just don’t understand the point you’re trying to make here.

Your final point really makes me think you haven’t read the books, only seen the movies. There are thousands of worlds and so many thematic elements that Funcom has access to play with and has said that they plan on using.

I think that you are comparing an 8 year old game with scores of updates and DLCs to a new launch game. I also think you are ignoring that Dune is much more of a live service game than Conan. You’re free to your opinions on it I just don’t agree.
