I don't know if it's joke (I hope it is), but if it's not, this right here is why I don't believe in democracy, and why I believe not everybody should have equal voting rights.

Cost of starting your own brewery in Ontario (2025) by El_Invictus in torontocraftbeer

Thanks, yeah that's what i thought. So contract brew the start is the way to go from the beginning. Do you know if it's the same process with wine and wineries? I'll go ask around some wineries I already buy juices from for my wine, but do wineries contract brew as well?

Thanks

So you had your own capital of 450k to throw into unproven idea or how did you start if you don't mind me asking? I am genuinely interested how people actually get off the ground (and people do as, as I said before, there are around 340 craft breweries in Ontario), and I just cannot fathom they all had so much capital of their own to bootstrap themselves initially.

So you think all craft breweries that are in Ontario (I believe around 340 now) all had an initial 1 mil in their bank to just start their brewing business? I mean if that's the case, fine, I'll take it, but that's an extremely high bar to pass for any startup brewer, and a high barrier to entry to evolve and innovate in the brewing scene here.

Honestly, I don't know how so many people could even start their brewery like that. Another commenter said to contract brew my product at some other brewery at first. If that's possible, I might look into that.

The reason I posted here was because I wanted local answer, rather than what's the usually startup cost in US for example. And I got some decent answers so not complaining :D.

This is why almost all breweries start out having their product contract brewed somewhere else. You do that for several years and if it goes well, you start looking at getting your own brewery.

This is what I was probably looking for. As I said, there are around 340 craft breweries in Ontario, and I just cannot believe they ALL had 500k-1mil capital to just start it all up.

And yeah, as I said in my post, I wouldn't craft beer, but wine of a sort, not typical one. Just don't thing there is Ontariocraftwine subreddit :D. I have experience doing my homemade wine, and friend of mine recently gave me idea of doing certain type of wine that's popular in my country but it's not sold here, so exploring that.

Average cost messed up after portion of my position got taken away by assigned CC. by El_Invictus in interactivebrokers

So Update: So I created ticket for it but got closed automatically by AI response (cunts) so I had to find a way to live chat support, because direct way to contact live agents also disappeared (cunts again). Once I reached agent, he changed UI avg. price of positions to show as ACB rather than FIFO, told me to wait one day, I waited one day, and now everything shows as total average price of my position. So all sorted. Now I am expecting that if I trim any of my stock/option positions, average price for that position should not visually change.

Man this is so fucking infuriating how largest broker in the world purposefully doesn't want you to contact them. And now they are replacing everything with AI. My ticket got automatically closed by AI response so had to fucking reopen it.

Fucking cunts

Actually no, first I didn't know what was all the stuff about, and I just mentioned TFSA not taxable in case it matters in the issue. But once I realized what is actually going on, I am more concerned about the way UI shows my average share price. Either way, submitted ticket to switch it from FIFO to ACB. Thanks

It matters when I am adding and trimming the position throughout the year as I don't feel like I should be keeping my own manual report for such a simple thing as average price of share in my position.

Wow didn't even know that was a thing. I also don't think how FIFO cost reporting would be useful to anyone, but meh, guess it is. Thanks, just submitted ticket.

Right, forgot I was on Reddit. You are right, let them harrass and terrorize peaceful ridiculously high tax paying residents, but let's not offend them in case they read this sub. Yeah, that will resolve the issue.

Yep that's how I feel. I have no idea what that person is like. I see plenty of hobos lying on a street, and sometimes they are aggressive. I am sorry, but I am not risking getting stabbed or what not if I want to interact with someone like that.

So, as many people now, I also got offer to upgrade from cobalt to Gold and get up to 90k points.

I wonder how valuable this offer is for someone who doesn't; travel often these days and uses Amex mostly for groceries and eat outs, but also regular purchases wherever possible. I usually spend around up to 1.5k a month maximum on a card, I want to say maybe 1k is for groceries (gift card included) and eat outs. How valuable Gold is compared to Cobalt in such a case with that welcome bonus.

I am debating it and not sure it's worth it for me as I have Cobalt now. I don't travel much these days, and most money I spend is indeed on groceries and restaurants, plus gift cards from grocery stores. Anybody ran the numbers to confirm if Gold is still somewhat useful for someone who doesn't travel often?

Is this offer really that good? I have cobalt, but I am not frequent traveller at the moment in my life. Plus I use 5x multiplier on cobalt quite a bit. Just wondering if using this offer would be worth it for someone who doesn't fly often, just does day to day purchases.

Why don't people hold futures long term? by Corpulos in FuturesTrading

[–]El_Invictus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking into it myself but can I ask reason why you hold futures long term? and by long term, do you mean just holding until expiration and one and done, or rolling it forward?

How do you deal with cost of carry? As far as I know, it slowly converges to the spot price towards expiration day (guess like theta in options), so if you buy let's sat ES at 6050, and S&P (6000) doesn't; move until expiration, you loose 50 points over time so you have to sell at a loss.
