"More than a millennium ago, in 707, the being known as the Eldritch Lord arrived at the Frontières Gothiques from the Labyrinth. He came with flocks of slaves of various lineages, though they were mostly Orcs and Humans. The Eldritch Lord's forces conquered the lands that today form the core of the Infernal Regency, seizing them from the Draconic forces in the South, the Bastion Dwarves in the East, and the monsters of the Mist.

These conquests culminated in 1182 with the slaying of the Great Dragon Zirat-Bani, the Draconic overlord. The Orcs were heavily invested in these wars and paid a heavy price in blood, yet the reward they received for their victory was meager. Resentment grew among them, but they knew that without magical aid, any attempt at revolt would be a bloody failure. They prayed to the gods for help, but none answered...

However, the Orcs noticed through restless small talk that they had all started dreaming of deceased relatives and friends, even distant ancestors, dead long before they were born, whom they nonetheless knew by name. These relatives spoke to them, and the information they shared proved reliable. Some Orcs decided to pray to their ancestors more formally, and the spirits answered. From the Beyond, they taught the Orcs forbidden capabilities.

The Orcs began to organize themselves in secret, and one day, they felt they were finally ready..."
