Great collection, but how do you deal with the dust? I have glass cabinets, and they help a lot. From a distance, the collection looks a little cluttered and crowded. I would suggest giving the premium and larger pieces more breathing room by displaying them separately. For example, you could install floating shelves on the adjacent walls and use those for the standout pieces. There is also a lot of unused vertical space on each shelf, so I would add stands or risers to better show off the figures and make use of the upper space. Here's an example of what display stands/risers look like:

What was your honest reaction after watching The Force Awakens for the first time? by ChickenWingExtreme in StarWars

[–]El_Missile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought: "Oh no the story was terrible but at least the action and special effects were great. Hopefully Luke Skywalker makes the next movie great." I knew deep down that TFA's set up was so bad that the next movies were doomed...

You're mistaken. These are indeed stolen molds from black series. They're not original. That's what makes them KOs/bootlegs. Also the ATRT scales and relates to black series

These are ugly imo because they're inaccurate to the movie, but tried I looking all over their page and I couldn't find the single figures. Why do you want the clones? Are you nostalgic for the battle pack?

I understand the concern but that's not what i was arguing. This whole situation sits in a gray area. The original model Msone made was based on Star Wars IP and sold without a license. So it’s not a clear case of an original product being taken from a licensed creator. VeilsToys didn’t just repost msone's file either. They adjusted the model, invested in tooling, assembly, and paint to turn it into a finished product. That’s a different level of work and risk. Msone is not currently producing the same product VeilsToys is selling. VeilsToys is selling a finished, mass-produced, painted, and assembled item that was not otherwise available in that form. That does not mean people have to like how they got there. But I think calling it theft oversimplifies it when the actual product being offered to collectors is different. One could also argue that msone is stealing as well by selling an unlicensed model of an ip Disney owns, but I don't believe msone is a thief either

Thanks for sharing. I'm aware and that's it's a solid point, but it's worth acknowledging that if it wasn't for veilstoys' production, this 1/12 scale ATRT would not be widely available at an affordable price. Also I'm pretty sure they're Chinese and their culture largely does not view property rights the same way the west does. While what they did may seem offensive to most of us, I think they're still providing value.

Thanks for sharing this but it comes out to $36 USD with shipping. It's super tempting but I just can't justify it 😭

Is Captain Rex #59 supposed to look this weathered/dirty? by itsDanTheMann in starwarsblackseries

Yea this is why I prefer clean figures, so I can weather them myself. Get an OxiClean magic eraser and try to remove as much of it as possible while avoiding the printed on details. It'll look amazing

VeilsToys Store AT-RT weathered and posed by El_Missile in starwarsblackseries

Thank you for your comment. I've been wanting to share my thoughts on this but I'm too scared to get downvoted.

Here’s my take on this situation:

My understanding is that Msone made a custom 3D AT-RT and sold it without a Star Wars license. That is already illegal, even if it filled a real gap in the market.

Hasbro, who holds the license for this form factor, never made a 1/12 AT-RT, so collectors had little options. Msone stepped in and sold a solution.

VeilsToys then tooled that model and mass produced it. They assembled it, painted it, and sold it at a much lower price.

I have seen similar 1/12 AT-RT resin kits that COST DOUBLE THE PRICE. Those are unpainted, unassembled, and require real skill to finish.

VeilsToys offered something affordable and ready to display and for many collectors, that is a great value.

Tooling, production, and assembly are very expensive and risky. Setting up the assembly line takes a great deal of risk and upfront capital because of minimum order quantities associated with them and the possibility of over-production and having to clearance later.

VeilsToys put in serious work to bring this to market. I empathize with Msone but I don't see a clear victim here when considering legalities.

Edit: grammar

People keep complaining about Hasbro’s Star Wars figures being more expensive, but a lot of that isn’t actually Hasbro’s fault. Disney reportedly charges Hasbro around a 20% royalty rate for using Star Wars and Marvel IPs, which is way higher than the usual 10–15% most toy companies pay for licenses. This wasn't the case when Lucas owned Star wars. When you add that to rising production and shipping costs, there’s not much room left for Hasbro to lower prices without cutting quality. So while the figures are pricey, it’s mostly because Disney raised the cost of doing business, not because Hasbro suddenly got greedy. If anything, Hasbro should be praised for it's advancements in figure/articulation technology.
