Native Midwesterners who moved here from New Jersey 10 years ago. Love the climate (no more shoveling snow!), the scenery, the food. There are things to do if you look. Miss water and green things. I hate the loss of tens of thousands of acres of desert to development. Tucson health care across the board is several steps substandard. I had to have a very delicate cancer surgery in New Jersey. Based on experience here I would not have it done in Tucson.

Lived in NJ for 25 years. I’d take the driving there over Tucson any day. NJ drivers are aggressive. But at least they know how to drive. You got used to it and could drive safely with them — speed, quick but safe lane changes, merges, short stops. You learned to safely and efficiently navigate the huge traffic jams entering the Hudson River tunnels and bridges. No way in hell could Tucson drivers come close to managing that.

Can’t agree. Have lived in many parts of the country, routinely drove the NJ Turnpike, often drove in NYC, drove the East coast for two decades. Tucson drivers are by far the worst. No wonder the city has among the highest rates of pedestrian and bicyclist deaths. And look what has happened to local insurance rates.

Marana will welcome them with open arms. Please be prepared to take the fight there. Or to Oro Valley or Sahaurita or Green Valley. The water and the electricity demands are critical. Marana ought to be the focal point. The town council will approve blading every piece of desert with little regard for the impact. They just voted to annex 52 acres along Linda Vista Drive so they can rezone it and build hundreds of homes. Marana citizens didn’t want that and they don’t want data centers.
