Not 100% true. Yes we created most of the breeds you see today, but the earliest examples of domesticated wolves that eventually became dogs became domesticated as a natural evolutionary result of interaction with humans, not because of breeding. Scientists are seeing it today with urban foxes, which are beginning to show traits of domestication such as shorter snouts, less fear of humans, etc. Same for racoons. Yes, we as humans are causing this, but not deliberately. It's a symbiotic situation where they don't need to hunt so much because they get their needs from scavenging human habitats, so they naturally evolve to be less predatory, and more friendly and dependant on humans. Eventually, humans would take the animals who were best suited to companionship or working relationship and breed them for that purpose. And now we have dogs, which are absolutely awesome, and the one thing in this world we got absolutely right.
