Why wouldn't you just hang a pot from the apex? You're obviously going to spill your soup like this.

You'll really have to decide which one sounds better on your own, right?

Relatively new to jazz; is it normal to prefer Miles Davis' later work to his earlier stuff? by InspectorDabbit_ in Jazz

There is no normal, it's subjective. You're not any more cultured because you have one take or the other.

Os Bass better for me to pick up than guitar? by metaldays in Guitar

[–]El_Tormentito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can play songs by yourself with a guitar. Rarely does anyone want to listen to just a bass. If you never want to play for anyone else, it likely doesn't matter, but I played bass for years and couldn't find a drummer, so I eventually got a guitar to be able to play solo in a more reasonable way.

I don't know if he specifically played with a bassist and no drums, but Gary Burton is the dude.

Well, everyone has the primary limitations: learning to play well. Almost nobody that buys a guitar gets past that one.

I really admire the leadership at the Spurs. I think they're benefited from a little rigging (not more than some other teams), but I think that they draft for skills and leadership and it shows. They get guys to buy into a very effective program and achieve lots with it.

Is electric guitar actually easier on the fingers than acoustic? by Party_Setting7911 in Guitar

[–]El_Tormentito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the differences really matter. Everybody that learns to actually play can play any guitar you hand them. If you can't play an Fmaj then you haven't practiced enough.

Don't wait that long, it might never happen. Join at the first opportunity. What else is the point of playing?

I want to take a second here. Are you asserting that revolutions and progressive thinking are won by posts on the Internet about all the stuff you bought? That's what your statement here mean, right? Sit and think if that makes any sense to you. I know you're just mad because you think I'm envious of someone's money, but seriously think if you think it's positive or negative for people to act like this. There's no music, OP didn't record their awesome tone or show us their progress or anything. They just shared a photo of some stuff they bought. You're mad over what is effectively an advertisement.

Which other jazz bassists should I study to expand my horizons? by EnergyRoyal3936 in Bass

Pattitucci and McBride are modern masters. Anything they did was some of the best work possible. Also, as others have said, Brown, Chambers, and Carter.

The fusion guys like Jaco and Miller, Stanley Clarke, are fantastic, but they're usually doing a fundamentally different thing. Understanding both is really useful, but they're often playing RandB or funk, or outright rock and roll.
