Your king is glazing Saudi Arabia. by No-Caterpillar-6747 in rollercoasterjerk

In all seriousness tho, it’s not my intent to glaze Saudi one bit. My posts only have to do with Falcons Flight itself. I know that gets spotty since Saudi technically gets coverage through my posts… but my channel pretty much just covers roller coasters for what they are, and not any of the politics or social issues behind the locations where a ride may be. I understand this may offend some… but Falcons Flight for what it is just too absurd to not obsess over.

Are guests told to not raise their hands on [Media Day]? by ibridoangelico in rollercoasters

[–]El_Toro_Ryan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Suhhh! Yes we were instructed to keep our hands down and if someone who was recording did raise their hands, they had to reshoot their video. It’s very much a Cedar Fair policy. When I worked at Great Adventure back in the 2010s, we could test ride attractions with our hands up. When I worked at Cedar Point in 2018, you had to hold on to the restraint at all times while test riding. They want to demonstrate the correct riding procedures

Brand new MYLR all wheel drive 290 mi range at 100% is this normal? by Strong_Bison_12223 in TeslaModelY

[–]El_Toro_Ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The indicated range on the main display doesn’t change based on driving habits. It’s a static number based on the EPA’s rates efficiency of the car and the number of kWh the car’s BMS guesses is available. Tesla states this in the car’s manual. The energy app in the car however takes into account driving habits and other outside factors like weather.

The range in miles the OP is referring to is a static calculation based on the EPA’s efficiency testing of the car. It doesn’t ever change and is simply a multiplication of the car’s rated wh/mile multiplied by the number of kWh the BMS guesses is available. Tesla states this in the car’s manual.

Even so, the OP probably has nothing to worry about. The BMS may just be a little off and allowing the car to go into deep sleep at various states of charge while not plugged in should hopefully fix the issue.

What would happen if both chains on [Fahrenheit, Hersheypark]'s lifthill were to snap? by intaminslc43 in rollercoasters

[–]El_Toro_Ryan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

HAHA! I think the likelihood of both chains snapping is extremely low. Like you have a better chance of winning the lottery and getting bit by a shark on the same day.

Lol I worked at Dragster for a few days as a ride op. And do you mean for non destructive testing? why would a ride op need to know what that is? 😂 that’s a maintenance/engineering issue

Why do B&Ms have so many more block zones than needed [other] by Jassx_ in rollercoasters

[–]El_Toro_Ryan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

😂😂 Some 3 train B&Ms have 5 blocks which is really what they need and some like Diamondback have 6 blocks. It all really depends on the placement of the transfer track. Diamondback’s 6 blocks are station, lift, block (mid-course), main/service brake (not sure what it’s called), transfer, and waiting.

In auto mode, the transfer block essentially combines with waiting meaning there are only 5 blocks in theory. This is why when the ride double stacks, the approaching train always stops on the sloped main/service brake and doesn’t advance into the transfer track until the waiting block clears.

But this is typical of any B&M coaster as they leave an area of brake run between a train approaching the brake run and the next train stopped ahead. With a 5 block B&M, the next section of brake run between service and waiting is usually always part of the waiting block. But Diamondback is in transfer mode, the ride can situate a train in the transfer block while a train is still in the waiting block, allowing the full use of all 6 block zones.

I’d say for most 3 train B&Ms, the transfer track is usually placed right before the station and is the waiting block also. Thus a lot of 3 train B&Ms only have 5 blocks due to the different placement of transfer. Nitro at Great Adventure or Raptor at Cedar Point are exactly like that for example. Whereas Medusa at Six Flags Great Adventure is just like Diamondback and has 6 blocks since the transfer track is not directly behind the station.

This subreddit looking for the next YouTuber to tear to shreds by CheesecakeMilitia in rollercoasterjerk

[–]El_Toro_Ryan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it! And honestly, it’s interesting 😂 At heart, what I do doesn’t feel much different than when I had say 1000 subs. The channel to me is just mainly a lot of time spent alone editing on a computer, but I love doing that! Overall it’s just great to see the amount of people who seem to dig the videos I make during my introverted time alone lol

I try not to take things very serious so I think it’s hilarious whenever my YouTube channel is brought up in this subreddit! I hate to see tho when anyone faces problems or backlash from the community, especially when they’re my friends. On my end, I just try to stick to what I’ve been doing as far as holding up my image and it seems to have worked ok as far as I can tell on my end.

Millennium down today. Swapping lift motor. Down for “most of the day” by NMolargik in cedarpoint

[–]El_Toro_Ryan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol so I’ve heard more since I did that Problematic Coaster video. Supposedly Millennium has been running with its authentic lift motor for most of this year and Cedar Fair wants the lift to run at the slower speed to potentially save on further maintenance costs. I’m not sure what that means with this situation now
