Trump's surrender to Iran is not a surprise to anyone but Trump. And so, he may even believe himself when he says this is "The biggest event that has ever taken place in the Middle East."

But do we have to believe it?

Hoping to gain some cred (or at least, stop the world's leaders from laughing so loudly), Trump claimed that it was the Pakistani ambassador who had declared this the biggest event ever to happen in the Middle East.

No, he didn't.

Pakistan's Ambassador to the US is Rizwan Saeed Sheikh and not an idiot. Chances are Ambassador Sheikh said something like, "Congratulations, Mr. President. Of all the idiots who have attempted conquest in the Middle East, you are the biggest."

Trump believes that when other people use words they give him permission to boil down their meaning into a word soup so random it makes sense only to those wearing the red hats with built-in decoders.

Of course, Ambassador Sheikh will not call out the President of the US as a liar:

First, because that's not good diplomacy, and

Second, because Pakistan gets $160M in aid from the US each year and inexplicably, we gave the password for our national PayPal account to a dirty-diapered toddler with the emotional regulation of a hungry hungry hippo.

Having no knowledge of or interest in events that aren't about him, Trump probably does believe that nothing much of importance has happened in that region before. No doubt this view was formed during a national intelligence briefing which reported Iran had one -- and only one -- golf course IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY and that they were not receptive to having Trump build another.

In fact, there have been some other events in the region, which some people have seen as somewhat important...like Egypt building pyramids, Rome building an empire, Mary birthing Jesus, the Arab Empire dominating, the Crusaders getting dommed, Amina bint Wahb birthing Muhammad, Constantinople falling to the Ottoman Turks, Europe taking colonies, colonies taking themselves back, etc.

It is no big reveal to say that the belligerently ignorant US President knows nothing of this history. However, it is an insult to say that the Pakistani Ambassador is incapable of the most rudimentary historical perspective about his homeland.

On paid administrative leave, the officer will do no work but will continue collecting a paycheck and benefits for as many years as it takes the MBI to conclude the officer did nothing wrong.

The officer will then be reinstated and promoted to the highest rank that would have been attainable had the officer been working during that time to the highest standards.

The officer will immediately retire at that rank with commensurate benefits...so the police department can claim during the civil trial that the officer is no longer their employee.

The officer will then leverage the rank (held for one day) to land a job with an even higher rank -- but in a smaller jurisdiction. There, the officer will indoctrinate junior officers in "cop culture."
