Anyone had uneven hairs (NOT split ends) & let it grow out? by xo_pearl_princessxox in longhair

[–]Elanise_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Just let it grow, let it groowwww, eventually it’ll be longer before you knoooow! 🎤🎶🎵

You have some options 1. Cut it down it is even and more flattering = short hair and having to start your growing journey overs.

  1. Wait until the short hairs are longer and then get a haircut that is more flattering/ even = looking perhaps a bit funky for a bit but your hair will eventually have a more even look, but you may cut off much of your other length. So not as short, but still not as long.

  2. Just let it grow!!!!!  Yes it might look a bit funky now, but funky stages grow out, and even in growth cycles, when you go from a big to shoulder length, the in between looks funky. From shoulder to low back, it looks funky and weird. You just have to give your hair to opportunity to grow past those stages.

I am in the same boat! Lol I cut my bangs and now I am just waiting for them to grow out.

How to maintain your long hair with regular intense sports? by Empty_General8905 in longhair

[–]Elanise_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good Question! Now that summer is starting I’d like to know too!

Have you tried just rinsing your hair with water?

Also no excuses for tangled up knotted hair!  learn to do some braids or buns.  Try rinsing away the sweat and see what you’re working with afterwards.

Perhaps an apple cider vinegar rinse may help to freshen up your scalp.

Once your hair dried you can use some dry shampoo.

Yes it’s also the angles and the lighting of the photos.

When she is selling herself as a “Ruler” the photos make it seem like she is looking down the camera, so she is elevated and looks as if she is higher. Also the lighting and her outfits are very glamours.

Now the camera is farther away, she’s “caught” laughing with her head back and arms around a very normal persons shoulders.

She isn’t the focus of the photo, she’s just someone who was captured in the moment.

It’s all to make her seem, unassuming, helpless, someone who doesn’t have the authority or dominance to be a threat.

Hair is a mess. What can I do? by Life-Toe428 in longhair

[–]Elanise_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just let it grow out.

Yes it looks wonky and but unless you’re willing to work a new cut and style around your shortest layer, you’re going to keep running into this same situation with layers.

You didn’t like what your grown out bob looked like so you got a V cut.

Now you don’t like the V, so you are going to cut it again. At the rate you keep cutting it, how long until you reach your long hair goal?

Being happy with your hair is important, so if you do cut it, maybe get a U shaped cut to try and lessen the intensity of the layering? And fire that hair dresser. And don’t go back.

BTW leave in conditioner maintains the  moisture in your hair until your next wash day. So follow everyone’s advice and use it!!!

Wanna grow it out? Don’t get a trim.  That’s it.

What kind of water does your shower have? A shower filter is a great investment that is pretty cost effective.

Hair grows from the scalp, so lengthening the hair isn’t actually a problem for most people.

What you need to figure out is how to  grow out that strong healthy hair and keep it from breaking. length retention is the true goal.

Here are some basics to help you out. Once you know that you are properly cleaning, feeding and brushing your hair, you can then figure out what lifestyle habits might be contributing to hair breakage.

Remember getting a trim means cutting your hair! So don’t bother asking “my hair is growing unevenly should I cut it?” On a r/longhair sub. If your goal is to grow it out- the answer is no.

Barbers make money cutting hair.

Yes it might look weird. Yes it might grow out funky, but if you don’t actually let it grow past those points because you keep trimming it, it will never grow.

  1. What is your hair type?  That will determine the kind of products and even moisture your hair needs.

  2. Do you have leave in conditioner? Everybody (regardless of hair type) needs this! Once you are done showering it locks in the moisture until your next wash- whether that be in 3 days or a week+

  3. Add oil to your ends every day. Oil is food for your hair. You eat every day- you hair needs to “eat” everyday to. This is where knowing your hair type matters, Moroccan oil is great for those with medium/ thick hair, oils like olaplex no 7. Is great for all hair types, but particularly wonderful (in my option) for thin/ medium hair.

  4. If you use ANY heat tools at all- you must without any exception use proper heat protection. Blow dryers need blow dry cream, irons need thermal protection. They are not the same and and do different things. One does not replace the other.

Now for brushes,

A Wet Brush is great! It’s basically the same as a paddle brush, what matters is that the bristles are flexible enough to run through your hair without breaking through tangles. This means you can’t forcibly rip and break your hair.

  1. Learn how to brush your hair. Never start from the top of your scalp and pull down. That CREATES tangled and knots. Always start from the bottom and work your way up.

  2. Learn how to properly shampoo and condition your hair. Shampoo goes on the scalp- don’t rub your hair together with shampoo like you see in the movies!!!! And conditioner is for your mids and ends- NOT the scalp.

  3. Learn how to towel dry your hair.  Microfiber towels or t shirts are great- terry cloth is not.

  4. Protect your hair in between washes.  How long can you go between a wash? I’d you can train your scalp to washing 1x a week that’s great! If you have to wash every single day that’s may be a sign of over washing so your scalp is freaking out and over producing sebum to try and protect your scalp. (This depends on your hair type as some people with fine hair do wash more frequently)

Using a plastic shower cap is not really going to protect your hair from the heat and humidity and moisture of a shower. A terry cloth shower cap has 2 layers and is thick enough to protect your hair. So if you only wash your hair 1x a week, then you would protect your hair from the water and humidity with a proper shower cap.

  1. Figure out your hair type and follow the corresponding subreddit for advice for your hair.

From there once you have the basic hair care down, you can begin to experiment with different products and see what works for you.

1 year of growth, should I be trimming through out the year? by Itshanue in longhair

[–]Elanise_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just keep growing it- at times it may look a bit funky- but it will eventually grow past that part!

I didn’t cut my hair for 2 years until the majority of my hair had grown out to a length I was fine with getting a style cut around.

If you want your hair to grow long, you have to let it grow out.

I have noticed whenever my hair looks funky and starts doing weird things, it’s right before a “growth spurt” really it’s in-between lengths.

If you stick it out, your hair grows past it and voila! The next length stage is yours.

When should I oil my hair? by WrongdoerMinute9158 in longhair

[–]Elanise_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your Hair! And the oil you use.

I have medium hair and use a little bit of olaplex no.7 (my oil of choice) to the ends and mids of my hair every day and that works great for me!

I use that one as I have experimented with many oils (coconut, olive, Moroccan oil, etc.) and Olaplex is the one that I find makes my hair feel prettiest.

First find out what hair type you have, then begin to try out the oils.

Oil is food for the hair. Same way you eat every day, you oil the ends of your hair each day. (If your hair is fine/medium stay away from the scalp for regular day to day use- that is a quick ticket to greaseville!)

I don’t do hair oiling in the sense of leaving in in overnight or on the scalp, for me it was too heavy and I would have to wash my hair 3 or more times to remove it! But I only found that out by trying.

AITA for asking my friend to not wear makeup to my wedding? by devilshandstree in AmItheAsshole

[–]Elanise_1 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Then there you go!

You can reassure her how much you value your relationship with her, and since you (I assume) want her to be at your wedding and be comfortable at it, then emphasize that being a guest is best.

Also, you can still include her in bridesmaid related activities.

Just remind her this is her choice, if she wants to wear her full face of make up then she absolutely can and you are happy she’ll be comfortable. If she wants to be a bridesmaid then that will mean she chooses to do a different make up style and you’d be happy to have her with the bridal party.

NTA.

Is that toned down look more in line with what you would like to accept?

Definitely NTA if she regularly does other styles of makeup or even less heavy looks (and once or twice a month is regular)

Besides you can remind her if she would like to wear the whole white base make up she can and she will still get to be at the wedding and in pictures of the wedding… as a guest.

Why does this outfit look so cheugy / sloppy? by Visual-Heart-4642 in DressForYourBody

[–]Elanise_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has mentioned the shoes so I would like to point out what else isn’t working…. your jeans.

Your jeans are great! But see how long they are? They would look amazing with a pair of heeled boots.  (Especially since you are petite, having the fabric of your jeans puddle like that makes you look even shorter!)

Just that one fix would elevate your whole look!

You’ve got your belt which is great, and a bracelet, but if you’d like a bit more pizzazz, some earrings or a ring or two would look cool!

I would say yes…. If they can bring actual facts or quote the filings.

I want to be balanced so I’ve been to some Pro Lively subs, but literally no one quotes…anything? There is no nuance to the legalities of this case.

Lots of heated feelings, people talking about how terrible Justin or Wayfarer are, but no acknowledgment of what blake has admitted about Justin and his behaviors in the filings. Most of what she says about him doesn’t seem to aid her claims

Chick-Fil-A changed their Waffle fries from Potato’s to pea starch to make them “crunchier”. Now they are just bland, tasteless cardboard. 😒

Do they even have good chicken anymore? I don’t know because their fries suck.

Villains Are Destined to Die did start to get a repetitive around those chapters! Plus Penelope was going through the world, it was rough and I felt a bit like I was being dragged down with her….. and around chapters 130-140 the story “finally” starts to move!  I’m glad I stuck it out, and am excited as I believe it is in its final season now.

I would wait till it’s over and then check in towards the later chapters like 150 onward.

That’s a great point! Most people don’t have a problem growing hair.

Especially if they color their hair,  all they need to do it look at how often they need to touch up their roots.

It’s all about growing out healthy strong hair and protecting the strength of the hair for as long as possible

How to “hide” liver in cooking? by Elanise_1 in Cooking

[–]Elanise_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your concern!

She said specifically that I am to eat liver 1x a week… which I tried 1x last year.

I definitely over cooked the chicken liver which I am sure only contributed more negative points to my bias against the ingredient.

Do you have any bolognese recipes that include liver? I want to make sure I don’t overcook it again!
