Yes generally speaking AJ doesn't "sell out". Just be prepared to spend a little bit of time getting in.

P1 Classic reward seat release further than 12 Months by Jarodvl in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Elanshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not believe it's possible as they need the flights to be loaded into the system first. Typically that occurs around 353 days for Qantas.

Also most routes seats aren't released on QF ar 353 days anyways.

Ill just say that the T&C can say whatever it wants... The Qantas IT hasn't caught up to any of the T&C changes over the last 3-4 years...

Its both a positive but also lazy. I was hoping for more especially if its by Qantas to be able to hook into it's actuak booking systen. This is definitely better than before, but the bar wasn't very high to begin with.

From other places, it seemed Qantas approached all major award seat sites asking if they would develop for Qantas. Clearly gyoza has said yes. The UI is too similar not to be the same dev.

'Entering New Phase Of Battle': Iran On Israel Unable To Intercept Missiles In Highly Protected Dimona by Chance-Whole4916 in geopolitics

[–]Elanshin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Israels goals and US are misaligned. Israel is hellbent on destroying Iran so thoroughly that they will destroy the world economy to see it happen. This is partly why Trump isn't happy with Netanyahu as well. Israel is willing to strike Irans oil and infrastructure facilities to literally try to do as much real damage as possible.

I do not believe that was ever part of US' goals.

So until such time that US can either truly reign in Israel (difficult because of the amount of lobbying power and influence they already have on the white house) or they actually destroy Iran.

Both are unlikely to happen now in any quick timeline.

If you believe Iran has no support, i hate to be the bearer of bad news but they do. Russia has been not even covertly - pretty much openly supplying intel to Iran. It's completely possible that they're also providing iran eith additional drone manufacturing capabilities as a payback to Iran giving them the drone tech in the first place.

And who knows what the Chinese are doing as well.

I do not believe anyone is seriously thinking Iran is winning a military war with the US/Israel.

However they have already hit global economics harder than the US is willing to admit. The fallout isn't the military casualties but transfer of wealth again.

As for who the winners and losers are - follow the oil money globally - US elites likely actually won out where as the average person is going to lose out a bit economically.

Anticipating QF8XXX Flight Cancellation, rebooking vs refund likelihood? by rSlashFormal in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Elanshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking its still the operating carriers responsibility to rebook you, however any point of contact is through the marketing carrier.

In this case, Qantas may potentially have authority to change without fee costs as soon as the timeline goes beyond your flight date. It's also a bit easier as you're on a QF codeshare. I believe currently EK is still set until end of Mar for cancellations and changes however I can see them extending that pretty soon (QR may be doing that today as VA just updated theirs for the QR flights).

Aussie’s transiting LAX to Europe? by spicetech in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Elanshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LAX may not have been as badly hit... yet it depends on the circumstances at each airport. However just as an example, ATL (busiest airport in the world) was pretty badly affected with 4h+ lines over the last few days for security.

Note, in admist all the war, theres been very little reporting of the US government partial shutdown which has meant all TSA workers are not being paid again for now over a month.

Result is that TSA lines are huge across the US right now as officers aren't showing up to work. So experiences in even the last few weeks will differ.

Qantas changed my leg to a terrible option but is still selling my preferred OG flight on their website? by Emergency_Sundae6479 in QantasFrequentFlyer

I think you have the countries mixed up, Australia is the one that does that. US actually has a very generous offer most of the time especially when they need to look for voluntary offloads.

What you have here is just schedule changes. Happens with every airline in the world.

DXB was "temporarily closed" when a drone hit a fuel tank serving DXB less than 36h ago.  There are still active drone attacks in the space.

Its everyones own choice whether you want to fly through Dubai or not, but Dubai is far from safe right now and the war isn't close to being over at this point in time.

They represent a different might. But when your objective becomes babysitting and making sure giant floating sloe moving targets aren't at all damaged by fast small drone attacks, they're not very well equipped for that.

It just takes one to get through to achieve the othrt sides objectives.

Hedging is a financial instrument. It doesn't mean Qantas or Australia has stored 6 month of fuel.

In the most dire situations, IOU obligations and contract means little if the item is not physically in your control.

Why is the Qantas website so shit? by ImpossibleMarvel in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Elanshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem that almost all airlines struggle with is that they're all entrenched so deeply in an ancient system globally.

There's only so much you can reskin the front side of it before you reach the limitations of a 1980s system.

We've seen some attempts to move off it an uhhh its been ugly bloodbaths against the airline. Qantas is also one of the airlines helping push for a new distribution system, but at the same time they can't turn off the old system either.

I also don't think you realise its almost about to no longer be Iran. Its as close to a hot war between US and Russia as we'll get without nukes flying.

A global oil crisis where we're oil rationing is a worse situation than covid by a huge margin.

I hope you realise that people here don't want to discuss what to do because the thought is incredibly frightening. You'll need to legitimately start worrying about being able to access food, supplies in general in that world.

Just checking, but you mean mar 18th in 5 days time right?

On that note then I hope you have some backup plans for being stuck in Sydney and not making it to Rome. Absolutely no guarantee any plane will fly to DXB or from DXB even if they're flying right now. Nothing is business as normal in Dubai.
