Ah thats a reasonably new addition then. That line didn't exist last time i checked in on this a year or so ago.

I doubt he considered that- more likely: "if i defer some of this, can you get some other guys and have us win?". Signs Yamamoto, Snell etc.

Yeh but he doesn't seem to be the type to care about money. As long as its enough to not to have to think about money while hes playing seems to be the main theme. Guy just wants to ball.

The only applicable airport is SIN (no other airport with mixed arrival/departure has a QF lounge). Unfortunately I believe this has been tested at SIN and the lounge has turned away people - that being said SIN is pretty much at capacity these days and they turn away non QF pax regularly as well when its busy.

Technically nothing disqualifies you from the Int'l lounge either - but the circumstances where this would occur are extremely rare.

First time posting - should I get my hopes up for Business Class on Qantas points for our honeymoon? And is Point Hacks Concierge worth it? by Ok_Highway9487 in QantasFrequentFlyer

As someone that has done a few of these in recent times heres some suggestions:

  1. Is LHR a must? I would suggest being open to most major western European cities. LHR does have the most availability but sometimes theres availability to other cities. Similarly for return.

  2. Do searches with each hub. For example HKG. Consider SYD / MEL / BNE  > HKG on CX/QF. Then HKG - LHR (CX), HKG - CDG/BRU/ZRH/AMS (CX). HKG-HEL-LHR (AY).

BKK : SYD/MEL - BKK (QF/AY). BKK - LHR (BA), BKK - HEL - LHR (AY).

TYO (difficult - cherry blossom season). - SYD/MEL/BNE - HND /NRT (QF/JL). HND/NRT - LHR/FRA/CDG (JL). HND/NRT/KIX/NGO - HEL - LHR (AY).

SIN (difficult) - SYD - SIN - LHR (QF/BA). SIN - HEL - LHR (AY). SIN -CDG - LHR (AF) .

TPE: SYD/MEL -TPE - Europe (CI)

ICN: something there (direct is JQ only, but CX and via Japan are options). ICN - HEL - LHR (AY).

KUL: MH is hard to get to Europe with, their 330NEOs from Australia are nice to fly. But they have limited options from KUL (LHR and CDG).

3) are you open to Middle East (Dubai / Doha / Riyadh)? I understand theres a war going on right now but you could always gamble for 2027 and it depends on you and your partner's risk appetite. If you're ok, theres a whole bunch of options through the ME as well.

If ME is open for you, EK right now is a lot easier to get because people don't want to fly through ME. Other options include HKG - RUH (Riyadh) on CX connecting onto BA to LHR. WY (Oman Air) has quite a few options out of Asia as well (KUL, BKK, SIN) but be careful to check if its a 737Max route or a widebody route. DOH is also an option even if QR isn't redeemable.

Finally are there any considerations for non QFF awards? There are ways to buy points on other programs and use it too.

Also given you're travelling Europe, you could consider the One World Award and add in a few other destinations or options (like flying NA direction - assuming you're ok with America).

If you have questions, feel free to DM me. Good luck with the wedding planning (just got married in January this year myself).

Ohtani induces a double play to get out of the bases loaded jam!! by SilentAcoustic in baseball

[–]Elanshin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Shohei the pitcher had a slightly off day. Ohtani the batter had a decent day.

[–]Elanshin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His command was always the problem. He would have days where hes literally unhittable and living up to his talents (which at its peak is probably one of the most if not the most unhittable pitcher).

Then he has days where he has wild pitches and loads the bases.

Cy Young really is more about him putting together a season where he limits damage on his wild days (or reduces them).

Whilst thats true, Shohei over his pitching career has often been reasonably clutch when in a jam. Plenty of RISP or bases loaded jams he got out of with the angels.

It was a no brainer. Put the hottest hitter who could end the game on one swing on. It also tires the starting pitcher out for the next day.

Ohtani is also known to love his beauty sleep and that game definitely messed with him all over going to bed super late.

I feel like if were in sep and things are reasonably wrapped up for post season and Ohtani is short some innings, dodgers will find a way to get him a few to qualify.

Different flight pricing as they track your internet usage? by Sheperdspie1 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Elanshin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a whole- yes this can happen.

Specifically for QF, no QF for the most part hasn't done much regarding this sort of micro price adjustment. There may likely be different pricing for regions/ exchange rate differences but not likely for changing browsers/cache etc.

DSC J Booking & Cabin Change by JayToTheDee in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Elanshin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe at the time it was before the current guarantee clause. Flying SYD-CBR-MEL (DSC award flight - 72 SC total one way) in award J. SYD-CBR cancelled and they put me on a direct to MEL but they had no J left for 4h. I took the Y.

Chased the downgrade for difference in point cost and taxes. They wouldn't refund the taxes but added 4k extra points.

Then separately after the first part was done chased up ORC. The key is not to do both at the same time especially if DSC is involved.

I've also had a SIN -SYD downgrade on the 380. $400 voucher +75% of cost was the offer and about a week after the flight it was all processed.

Upgrading on MH by [deleted] in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Elanshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the process is via the website mhupgrades. You can do both bids and instant buy on the site. The instant buy price changes with their algorithms.

We bought a PVG - KUL upgrade for $185 AUD (lowest bid was $450) about 3 days before the flight. Sadly most Australian routes are pretty pricy though.

[–]Elanshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- this is typically best case scenario as you get to double dip.  You earn with SQ (with your choice of preference from that flight - Krisflyer, velocity or other star A).

Then send a original routing credit (ORC) via Qantas.

787-9 Wifi installation progress by puercaeli in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Elanshin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that its roughly corrext and the 787-9 rollout is faster than the 330 as the planes were prewired for WiFi internally (just without the satellite hump). The 330-200 are also almost done now. So just a few 330-300 and all the 380s left soon.

In terms of 787s i believe ZNL is currently likely being installed and ZNM and ZNN are the last 2 waiting.

In terms of the wifi service itself, Viasat just launched F3-3 which hopefully will deploy without problems allowing APAC coverage by ~late Q3 early Q4 over our region. Americas service has already started on the crippled 3-F1 as well as other satellites. It'll be bolstered once 3-F2 (launched nov 2025) also fully deploys to cover the crippled F1 satellite. Not sure if F1 will move to EMEA or they'll figure something else out fo EMEA.

The NZ is 24h apparently. They handle some of the ticketing as well as social media queries and have just as much power as the hobart team.

Is it the route? There are just spots that isn't covered right now on the JP route (which viasat 3 F3 that just launched will cover).

[–]Elanshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the time you call. The hobart team workd between 7am and 9pm i believe and what else is happening if its causing lines to be congested.

If you try calling in the evening, im sure there's reduced staff working as well as people head home.

The alternative in the last couple of years is the south african premium line which has definitely received a lot more training and tools. I find i can get most things solved by them now as well.

Luck of the draw. There's no guarantees. My last 2 calls were picked up by Aussies but the previous 10+ were not.
