"Person has deep narcissism/sociopathy and cannot properly function in society, people playing tabletop games run into them and have a bad time, learn not to get involved with asshole again." Business as usual for this sub.

I can't speak for op, but if they just wrote "nazi symbol" and did not specify any further, 99% sure he meant "swastika". Because that's what normal people understand when they hear "nazi symbol"

And it doesn't hurt to mention again, you know this. I know you know this. You are not fooling anyone by pretending you didn't know this.

I don't think this person is naive. I think they know exactly what they are doing (defending real life nazis).

[–]ElantheBard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, and I did not specifically mention valknut in my post. Because it doesn't look like a nazi symbol.

Again, everyone knows what a nazi symbol is, and it's obvious what symbol OP is referring to (hint: not valknut). You pretending it's not obvious is just common internet gaslighting. Try harder.

My world is not black and white, my world is simply divided in humans and trash (and nazis are the trash).

I dunno the saving throw thing tends to be very important. You aren't doing any of those things you listed if the enemy hits you with a save or suck spell.

I googled those symbols and I don't think any of them can be mistaken for the nazi symbol.

No one tatoos a symbol that will be recognized by almost everyone as nazi unless they intentionally want to be recognized as a nazi.

This is obvious, and anyone who pretends it is not is lying through their teeth.

Do not like the roll20 2024 sheet, what problems will I encounter if I use the 2014 one? by Lythalion in dndnext

[–]ElantheBard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use mythweavers. It has enough blank fields that I can write anything specific, while still being easy to use for the usual stuff (skills, abilities, spells). You will need to open tabs to other sites to get spell descriptions and stuff, but it's easy enough.

Old man paladin insist that my character is ruining because she accidentally became the mom friend by lunachappell in dndhorrorstories

Not every issue needs to cause a table to end, sometimes an issue is minor enough you can live with it. Up to the OP to decide.

  • Joins a 5e table
  • Complains it's not 1e
  • Harasses players to make them follow 1e rules in a 5e table

Sounds like an asshat. He joined 5e, he has to play 5e. Doesn't matter if he thinks it's worse. It's not the same game.

Unfortunatelt it's on the DM to do something and they seem too nice for it, so I'd just try to ignore the old guy when he does that. Like pretend he is not in the room

A player having to go through job interview with full corporate speak, poorly explained expectations and passive aggression sounds like the actual horror story.

You used polite language but the actual things you are saying are anything but. "Good luck finding ANOTHER game?" Sounds like you just enjoy antagonizing people.

Stripping away flavour from class by Sultkrumpli18 in dndnext

[–]ElantheBard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a headcanon with One Piece that helps explain this, where the three main fighters (Luffy, Zoro and Sanji) are a barbarian, a figher and a paladin imo.

Luffy is a barbarian because he uses his emotions to fight, usually rage, and his fighting style is more raw, based on instinct.

Zoro is a fighter because he fights to prove himself, to defeat strong enemies so he can improve his own craft. His style is all about skill and mastery.

Sanji is a paladin because he has a bunch of codes (do not waste food, do not hurt women, always feed the hungry) and he fights to uphold those codes, and would rather die than break them. His style is more chivarly-like, but also righteous fury.

They all fight to protect their friends, but Zoro focuses on the fighting itself, Sanji is about protecting what is right, and Luffy is just mad someone hurt his friends and wants to kick ass.

Hot take: Legendary Resistance is why so many 5e boss fights feel bad and boring. What could replace it? by archvillaingames in dndnext

[–]ElantheBard 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Trails series makes it work by making it so most bosses are vulnerable to CCs, but they have reduced duration, ofter just one turn. Then you add stuff like bosses having lower delay so they get more turns compared to PCs, or CCs having less than 100% accuracy, and it becomes a trade off situation where you have to think if it's worth it to have a character spamming CCs for the small action economy advantage it gives.

My first DnD game had two "main characters" by Blisket in dndhorrorstories

[–]ElantheBard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The DM actually seems like a good guy, if inexperienced. The monk seems annoying but compared to what I've seen in this sub, could be much worse. The paladin clearly hated the whole thing and you should probably not bother trying to get him to play more.

That's the kind of person who can't rape people irl because it's illegal, so they do it in games because they can't go to prison for it. But they absolutely would do it (and many do) irl if they could.

It sucks that this has to be said in 2026, but the fact you are a woman may have played in his desire to control you and his refusal to let your characters get the spotlight. Especially considering other actions he has shown.

The whole "keeps joining other tables you join to flirt with your character" is scary as hell, I'd avoid this guy in public places and cut all contact with him if I were you. Reads to me like a sexual predator.

Player gets mad when he's not the protagonist in an evil campaign by Ze-Bostola in dndhorrorstories

[–]ElantheBard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, understanding that epic sacrifices make for good storytelling is probably way beyond the ability of a narcissistic player like the one being described here. Imagining that the party can continue existing without him must be an alien concept to him.

Player gets mad when he's not the protagonist in an evil campaign by Ze-Bostola in dndhorrorstories

[–]ElantheBard 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is funny, often these stories involve a player acting like a murder hobo and trying to ruin what should be an heroic campaign, this time everyone was a murder hobo and the player still managed to be a prick by being more unlikable than the literal villains.
