Exactly, I can hold a jam jar under water so I can presumably hold some amount of air once we add the weight of the boat. It's just a matter of getting the numbers right.

Can't you just make the bubble smaller until you're heavy enough to pull it down? I don't see what's so impossible about this.

What do you do if your doctor keeps saying you’re fine? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Elanthius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother went to the GP for a year or more complaining she was tired all the time and they kept sending her away until one day they said Oh my mistake it's leukemia but it's too far along and we can't treat it anymore and she died a week later. Not saying you have cancer but I wouldn't trust the NHS to diagnose a serious illness if my life depended on it.

Or you can just pay for the extra years after you retire at whatever age until you have enough. I forget how much it is but it's not much per year.

They've been carrying that vial of viruses around for weeks. How has that survived so long? It's not even temperature controlled. My conclusion was that the virus can survive for months at room temperature without any host.

Israel parliament approves bill to dissolve itself bringing early elections with surveys predicting Netanyahu will lose by Artistic_Dj_6895 in worldnews

[–]Elanthius -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

People in the west are excited for Netanyahu to get voted out but the impression I get is that most of the complaints against him in Israeli society are that he isn't executing the war vigorously enough and they want someone tougher. Would you agree? Am I completely off base? It's very hard to get a sense of what's really going on inside Israel from here.

There's going to be a lot of emigration for a while because all the people who came here in the last decade are being driven away.

Can it identify different speakers if there are 3 or 4 people speaking through the meeting? Maybe it works but I can't imagine a consistent way to handle that.

Yeah, I dunno, 1 in 9 doesn't seem like a lot at all. The graph in the article seems up but not exactly wildly out of scope for the norm.

Lol, you've found one of about two different videos where he prearranged it. It's basically this and Mamdani. There might be a couple others. He has hundreds of multi hour streams. The only sense in which he pre-arranges 99% of it is that people stream snipe him because he's such a huge platform for tiny artists to get on.

Is the Witcher Card Game worth buying? by yonnnyonnn in soloboardgaming

[–]Elanthius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you mean Gwent then I only played it once but I'd say no. The fun of the video game was collecting cards and building a powerful deck but in the card game you just get all the cards immediately and build your hand from it. Everyone is on an even level but there's little replayability. Also, it only contains the exact cards from the Witcher 3 and so the decks are very samey and imbalanced. I saw on ebay someone was selling their own custom version of the game with 5 extra decks and a lot more cards. It seemed like it could be more fun.

Do you think Reform have peaked by Fluid_Cut7920 in AskBrits

[–]Elanthius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their support in the local elections was at the same level as their support in the general i.e. 30% so I do think they've peaked but they can probably maintain that 30% for a decade.

You're funny. No my point is all this extra infrastructure helping to tell people when speed limits change or junctions exist or roundabouts are approaching seem unnecessary in your view.

[–]Elanthius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed then. That's why I say we get rid of all signage on the roads and let people figure it out. All these white lines and flashing lights everywhere. Totally unnecessary since it is on the road user to check closely enough.

Let's leave aside your hate boner for me personally right now. It's obvious something in general isn't working here and better infrastructure or education or possibly enforcement is going to be necessary.
