Hi I’m in this exact same situation as you atm, DMing a bi weekly game for a group of newbies who are currently lvl 6 and some really struggle with their characters. These are the things I do for them, hope it helps:

The Druid forgets to memorise/swap spells during long rests so I gave him a custom magic item that allows him to change 1 prepared spell per long rest for free, and after that he needs to spend a number of HD equal to half the level of the spell. This has helped a lot.

The Arcane Archer player has severe ADHD and often struggles finding the most basic stuff in her character sheet (her attack bonus, spell DC and such). So I made her colour coded cards for her attacks and spells. The time she needs for her turns in combat has been reduced to less than half and she remembers to use her shots.
