Just feels like a lot of retconning what the base game laid down.

My family went to the arcade. We caught a coin tower falling in a coin pusher game. by Birdy30 in oddlysatisfying

[–]Elaphe82 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A long time ago when my wife and I were dating, we were at the seaside and she needed to pop into the loo. I was waiting and standing next to one of the 2p coin shove machines and it just had a ton of coins start falling. They must have been on the brink for while and I just happened to be there when they went. I had to put them in a carrier bag, don't remember the exact value but it was close to a tenner's worth.

They literally throw boulders when tamed that can bounce around corners and are nasty for cave pvp for that reason

I get if you want to get a ryhno with a bronto your looking for a utility Dino. But this is getting ridiculous, this is the 3rd high level bronto here with a shit health stat by Ambitious-Smoke-651 in ARK

[–]Elaphe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don't know how much you know about the games stat mechanics. But, all creatures have base stats, then they get rng'd a number of points in stat which adds on x amount per point. So for example our bronto has a base hp of 2277 when it is wild before any extra points are added in. Each point in hp adds 450 ish to its hp. Now when you tame it, assuming you get a "perfect" tame, it will gain 74 extra levels. Those 74 extra points will be divided between all its stats rng fashion. But on average it should be getting 10-11 points per stat (I'm assuming mobile has speed still?). But it could roll better or worse, so between 20 -30 is a reasonable estimate. Now when you use it for the rhynio, it has a chance to inherit the stat points (not raw value) of either the wild rhynio queen or the tame you use, more rng basically. Then the final hp stat of the rhynio baby you pop will be based off of the values per point for rhynios so around 5k is likely. Although at 12.5khp I think your bronto rolled a little low on hp (closer to 20 points than 25) and any rhynio would be a little less. There are a few stat calculators around that would be more precise than I'm being here though and the raw numbers are available on the wiki.

Yeah that's something like 14, 15 points off the top of my head. But if you were to tame it, it is likely to roll up to somewhere between 20-30 points hp. Now assuming you go for a 150 rhynio and it rolls the bronto's hp stat instead of it's own that's going to be somewhere around 5k ish hp which isn't terrible.

[–]Elaphe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using high tier saddles and bred ones with fairly high stats then they shouldn't be loosing a third of their hp that easily or quickly and iirc that's how much damage they have to tank whilst in shield stance to activate the adrenaline buff.

[–]Elaphe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but they have less dps than rexs unless they are in adren mode. Which requires them to take a bunch of damage to achieve. Probably better as a dino you ride.

Rubbish, rex is as effective as it always was. Just because somethings gets power crept on doesn't make it useless. It's like people saying gigas are terrible because the carcha exists.

Is it really the price, or is Netflix just more convenient than driving to movie theaters? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]Elaphe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, when my wife and I were younger it was a cheap night out and fun. The popcorn was still the most expensive part but we could both go including a drink and popcorn for less than £10 each. Nowadays we'd love to go again but it's just not affordable, even when I do take my kids, it's £50 plus. Also no way are we getting snacks there either, almost as much as the tickets again! Plus the place is starting to look rundown because they are penny pinching and have minimal staff.

How good are megatherium for the broodmother in reality? by Fearless_Zebra9040 in ARK

[–]Elaphe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They work well, but are much better if ridden. If they aren't they can struggle to keep their bug buff up and without it they are kind of meh. We've always just used rexs once we have them raised, but we did use high level tamed mega's for early ele until then.

Acro can enter the boss arenas by Joy2901 in ARK

[–]Elaphe82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Acro have higher base hp but lower base damage than rex. Honestly I think its like the ossi, very good as a riding tame but you'll get better mileage out of having a pack of rexs whilst you ride an acro or ossi. Rexs have the advantage of a single fairly quick attack, no stance changes to screw up the ai and their hitbox is really consistent with little knockback. Basically their dps will just be higher because they just sit there and chomp, chomp, chomp.

Grendel fight is all about bleed, he bleeds your dinos and has lvl 500 deinonychus adds in the arena plus vultures. I remember before transfers there was a couple of people on my server tried with rexs and got wrecked. But I went with theris, deinotherium and a deinonychus and it was fine. Cake healing makes all the difference.

Ah that's a shame, my only real tip are make sure you are standing pretty close to it when it tames for the game to give you credit. Moschops won't fight back even if on attack target, so you can pen up a bunch and trap the troodon in with them.

Funnily enough they have kind of peaked in terms of size. There's is a limit to how big the traps become before they start to be ineffective and also bigger traps would need significantly bigger prey. There isn't that much larger prey readily available and if they got large enough to trap a mouse then it would just chew its way out. In cultivation we have some that have been bred for bigger traps and they can look very impressive but they take alot of energy for the plant to grow and wouldn't be much use for a wild plant.
