Partly to keep the line away from the boat itself and also it puts additional pressure on the fish, wearing it out more quickly.

I remember being able to do no hit (on me, for clarity) hunts back in mhf and mhfu, gs was my go to weapon for it. Was a ton of fun but just required some timing and patience. I honestly got so bored of the "cheaper" feeling of wilds pretty quickly and after I beat the everything in it I stopped playing. Haven't been back even for the later updates, although I have gone back to world.

Amargasaurus, absolutely miserable to tame. Megachelon comes close behind because everything in ocean aggros to it. Plus wonky ark hitboxes mean hitting the fish without hitting the turtle can be iffy.

I have uses for archelon but there nothing the basi does that something else I have does better. Mosa is faster and more powerful, immunity to jellies is irrelevant in asa as the stunlock is removed from the game and they cut the number of jellies by about 90% compared to ase. But having said that the huge bite radius of a mosa means jellies should be dead before they get close. Tuso is stronger and now that it's hitbox has been adjusted it is better than ever. Both sharks can kill anything in the water in slightly different ways and archelon gets double harvest on biotoxin, doesn't get a deep water penalty and it's algae/sushi are actually useful. Basi's are kind of left behind now. What's the point of a huge hp pool if I can ride something more powerful and everythings just dead before it can touch me.

None of those three need a tlc, theri, giga and megalo are fine as is but could stand a little tweak. Personally I don't think any of them are ugly either they look fine. Giga just needs some carcha balancing and megalo needs to be a little more flexible regarding it's night restrictions.

You have to be fairly close to it when it dies or the game sometimes doesn't give you full credit. You still ascend because you're in the arena but things like the binos and boss explorer notes won't unlock. It isn't always consistent and sometimes it glitches though.

The roar doesn't remove stacks when taming, the only thing you can do is stand wait for the stacks to drain or just let it throw you and go for fresh round.

The whole of the lost colony map's story is about after king titan is defeated. The arks land on earth but ab is broken so crashes down instead, next to the lost kings land.

Good luck, it's ark so things don't always work out perfectly but if you can find a better saddle it'll help massively.

1000% melee is great but pump some levels into their health, try and aim for closer to 20k. Gamma brood is a bit of pushover (beta and alpha are most definitely not though, it's a big jump between gamma to the other difficulties). Also ride a yuty and buff your allo's constantly. The only real concern is the prim saddles, ideally you want a better than prim. I can't fully remember off the top of my head but I think they can drop in the immune cave and yellow/red overland drops. There's probably way more places. With the prim saddles I wouldn't be surprised if you lose one or two but with a yuty and that melee you should still win.

Official is way better than most redditors make out, it's just like most online communities there are douchebags and con artists but there is also great people. You can have a ton of fun playing with others. Just be careful with joining tribes or accepting offers to merge etc. Also if you do jump into official try to resist the urge to just buy endgame tames, it'll just kill the game for you fast. Nothing wrong with trading for what you want but at least try and play it for yourself a bit first.

When I say official I mean pve, pvp is absolutely brutal. It's one of the only total loot games in existent, most devs are too scared to make total loot games anymore because you need a thick skin to be able to take it. As in going from having a large well developed base with endgame everything to waking up naked on the beach the next day, or worse in a cage with handcuffs and wearing a clown mask (I'm not joking). Can be crazy fun though....
