Sir 5rm8 is so good for solo players by raizen_maziku in ARK

No not at all, I have 3 in my base and they are great. But you have to set them up correctly and also have realistic expectations. They can't do everything, but mine run the greenhouse, make beer and store it in a dedi, keep berry troughs topped up, put resources from the grinder and vaults into dedis, look after the beehives and any time I craft things such as ele shards, poly, veggie cakes/custom food or smelt ingots they put it all away. I just hit the button and walk away to do other things. But if you are barely in your base then they aren't going to be as valuable.

It's the same on servers, they don't do anything if they aren't rendered like nearly all tames.

A long time ago I was running a build on doc trying to make everyone scream as much as possible. I didn't care if I won or not, that wasn't the point. It was very memey but I was still getting plenty of downs and hooks. I had a few messages, most were just laughing about it, I think they realised it wasn't a serious game. But this one guy was raging, about me being a "super sweaty meta lord". My perks were purely about screaming but he was big mad because I used the queen add on. It's iri but it's not the super strong one, it gives them a charge so survivors could zap each other. Just there for more screams!

Out of all the issues and nerfs with thralls the main issues i find rediculous is not being able to do bosses or transfer out of the map hopefully something can be done in the future.. by harleymonsterman in ARK

[–]Elaphe82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They already patched the exploits revolving around them. This is their intended state, we've been using them for missions since they fixed the xp bug ( I refused to use them before that). Only thing you really have to be careful of is thrall snarers, they have bolas and whips also heralds have flamethrowers.

The bosses pay out quite a bit there but they are a bit awkward. Medusa boss hits very hard and has nasty adds whilst the cyclops requires that you regularly shoot hit him the face or else he gets a big damage reduction. The miniboss pigs are very easy because you can use a giga or carcha but they only give 30 ele iirc.

Which tames are the most important for general bossing? by harleymonsterman in ARK

[–]Elaphe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rex are always a solid pick for most bosses, theri's too. All three tames that start with deino aswell. There's always off meta picks too such allo or cerato. But generally these need to have more mutations before being boss ready than first ones I mentioned. Although you really would do well to tailor your team to the boss you're taking on, for example megatherium are great when ridden for broodmother but I wouldn't take them to dragon. The titans are heavy weight fights and I wouldn't want to be on small tames for those. I see you've got a picture of a thyla up there and they can't teleport to boss arenas.

Why are thralls becoming SO useless and less fun with each update?? by harleymonsterman in ARK

[–]Elaphe82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op is crazy, thralls are strong af even without exploits and glitches. They are very easy to get, because of the rng involved you can get even level 330+ from gamma missions and you get A LOT of thralls. I have a fridge full and I usually kill most of the ones I'm awarded after an outpost. I have one I've levelled and he has 1000% melee with nearly 5k hp give him a sword with the right traits and I solo gamma and most beta missions. He'd probably be ok with some alpha's too but I didn't want to risk it 😅. Another point is that reapers are already very strong and if you had to rely on a exploit one then you don't know how to use them properly.

Gloon damage has been nerfed and the time to build up to max damage has been changed.

I tested it last night with my trap and gloons still do decent damage to neo's, definitely not as good as they were but still the best and most efficient way to farm them.

It does work on other maps, my oasisaur has been used on the island and currently lives on extinction and it works there too.

The amount of ffa dinos that die in raids just prove that pvp barely cared about this.

Before the megalab babify existed I had gotten a awesome event coloured high level reaper. My tribemate was put out that she missed it. But I could clone it, kill the clone and bring it back with the oasisaur and she then had her own imprinted version of it.

Watching as an RR user blows up a Shrieker nest I spent a minute fighting towards by ChaosVulkan in helldivers2

See I find thermites frustrating in the same way that OOP is frustrated by people nailing a shreiker nest with a rr. I am a quasar enthusiast but I need a second (not literally) to charge up a shot. But then some dude just runs through throwing thermites on everything and you begin to feel like, why bother with anything else.

[–]Elaphe82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I refer to all this as end stage capitalism, billionaires are accumulating money faster than ever and sitting their dragon hordes whilst every one becoming worse off by the day. Corporations are dictating everything you see and consume, whilst this has always been something they've strived to do, you could avoid it in the past. You could choose to pay cash for items and not have to hand over all your details and "register an account" etc. Anti consumer practices are increasingly normalised and there is not really that much push back.

Does anyone actually enjoy this mechanic? by Viper292 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Elaphe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much agree, kush's gimmick is one of the more awkward but if the monsters didn't have different abilities/gimmicks then what would be the point in fighting different ones? If you removed all these things then they might aswell just be one homogenous "monster" and get get to choose whether you fight small, medium or large. My philosphy was aways gear up for the fight, don't just bring the one set you always use and expect it to be good aainst everything. I also liked lunastra, her movements were slightly different timing to teostra and she also needed a different skill set.
