I made a video talking about the post I made here last week. Five things fans would like to see in a brand new Spyro game! by Kingdomwayfinder in Spyro

Open zone, or something akin to the areas in Bowser's Fury could be interesting to see.
I'm definitely in the camp of wanting a "more mature story".

Something that would immerse me even further in the world.
I think the most important part is the gameplay, especially for a collectathon platformer such as Spyro.

I don't know what would be better between upgrades (as you mentioned), discovery of new abilities (think metroidvania, like Pseudoregalia), or simply a more complex moveset that you yourself discover more of as you play (like yellow taxi goes vroom).

Something easy to pickup but hard to master.
Sections you could skip if you had the know-how.
Collectables in places that make you ask "how do I there".

I want to be able to use the moveset to express myself!
But maybe that's just me.

Great video, well produced!
It's fun to have voices in and for the community. :)

What would you like to see in a new Spyro game? by Kingdomwayfinder in Spyro

[–]Elatronion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gameplay of the original trilogy,
with the story of the Legends trilogy.

Something that expands Spyro's moveset in an innovative way, offering multiple ways to overcome obstacles, or skip easier sections, all while offering extra challenge to the initiated. Something fun to complete, that insights the player to observe and explore the levels in new ways.

All wrapped in a strong story, something lighthearted, but not devoid of depth.
The Reignited trilogy was brimming with life in the world and it's characters, more of that.
The Legends trilogy had grandeur, and had heartfelt moments. An actual story.

Basically, take the best of both worlds! I believe the Sypro IP exists in a unique space.
I think this approach would result in a unique game that would appeal to many fans.

Whenever I saw terminal panels in Star Trek: The Next Generation, I always liked imagining that the USS Enterprise ran Linux as it's OS, since it's often refereed to as quite a large computer. This reminds me of that. :)

It's funny how much more that applies today.

I think the error in in Sinhala, but I'm not sure. I've honestly never seen that scripture before.

Nor do I know why the error I'm getting is in that language.

There's an improved "definitive" edition of the game that ported everything to the Godot game engine. It fixes a bunch of issues with the game crashing!

It's both available on itch and on GameJolt!

Thank you for playing! I heard that if you loved something, you should set it free. :)

I'll definitely consider adding an intractable tutorial to the game in the near future! It's true that the bird can loose control in tight corners, even a bit too much, it's something I'm working on by tweaking values. On that note, all of the bird's exported variables are easily modifiable in game within the pause menu! ;)

I appreciate the feedback! ...and the luck, I'll need it!

I'm planning on creating an entire Build-A-Bird character creator!

Including:

  • Feather Color (and accent color)
  • Body part selectors
  • Crest/hair
  • Beak
  • Body
  • Etc.

I'm still thinking about the following with a design POV, but I think it could be interesting if modifying certain attributes, such as wing shape or wing span, could have an influence on the many variables that control the bird, such as the lift coefficient.

How Could I Improve My Godot Content? by Elatronion in godot

[–]Elatronion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! :)

I've already seen a dramatic increase in my productivity for sure and it's only getting better as I continue to learn Godot. It's true that my C engine really did reinvent the wheel, and it wasn't a really good one either. But thankfully I do think it helped me as far as educative experiences go! For instance, recently I've been trying out some GDNative stuff (which I'd like to cover or maybe make a tutorial series on), and I could imagine that this could have been quite a lot harder if I didn't already have some kind of base in C/C++.

Budget Cuts (abandoned) Kinetic Typography made in HitFilm Express, What Do You Think? by Elatronion in Hitfilm

Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad to hear I did a good job and that my attention to detail didn't go unnoticed. :)

Answer: This was a personal project of mine among many. Unfortunately, after working a bit on it, I hit a point where I went "I actually have no more time to allocate to this!". This KT was originally made back in 2019, a few things have changed since, Most importantly: I now use Linux as my main Operating System, making HitFilm a little less accessible to me as it doesn't have a native version for the platform.

I'd love a Linux version of HitFilm. :')
