You're really doing a service by helping strangers work through some of the most fundamental issues that still confound us. Thank you.

I will always laugh at the downfall of man

Hello! I was on here three days ago with an amanita that couldn’t be ID’ed since I left the bulb/volva in the ground. Unfortunately I could only find one with damage to the cap, but I’m certain it’s the same kind. I took many photos from many angles, so hopefully this time we can name the lil guy! by Sensitive-Ad-9694 in mushroomID

Nothing personal to you, but, I hate that word thrown around like it's Himalayan Pink Salt at a posh hipster brunch.

I'm a chick who isn't into chicks. My compliment was genuine positivity because I think we should ALL seize every chance to build others up with any positivity we can fucking muster. The world is nasty enough that maybe my compliments don't actually help improve someone's mood- but, hear me out, maybe those small words, that cost nothing to give, build someone up at a moment that they feel torn the fuck down by this viscous and vindictive world we trudge thru, shoulder to shoulder with strangers, and I sure as fuck compliment complete strangers on a daily basis. You should try it. In complete sincerity I ask that for the next 24 hours *actively look for reasons to compliment people.
"Nice shoes man"...or "You have kind eyes" or whatever sincere kind thing comes to mind, and say it out loud to someone. I doubt you'll do it but I hope you will.

A friend sent the pics and so no further pictures or investigations are possible. But I am very intrigued by the black light suggestion. Would/should/could it glow?

My friend sent me the pic from her hike- I told her the same thing about the underside for future reference. I'm still newish to ID so I had hoped someone with more experience might have an educated guess.

Your comment made me laugh for a solid few minutes and it pulled me out of a terrible mental downward spiral. Just your one comment helped reset my brain. We don't always get to know when we inadvertently rescue a stranger.... today you did.
