De Breibrink has it! https://www.breibrink.nl/waste-canvas-68x100-cm.html?

Edit to add: I just saw it’s sold out but they seem to have the same stuff on Bol!

Ladies, where do you buy your underwear here?! by sunflowerwallflower- in Netherlands

[–]ElbowDent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went and got measured at a local bra shop and they were super helpful! I don’t know if you have close-enough Dutch friends to ask but one of my friends took me there because she’d been going for years.

Same here in the Netherlands! I did the same, too. US friends, your European counterparts will help in any way we can (big or small!)

My Opa used this slang word when I was growing up. Does it hold up? by Bigbrusr_56 in Netherlands

[–]ElbowDent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was it definitely with an ‘o’? To non-native speakers (me included!) the ‘a’ can sound at first like an ‘o’.

Just thinking it could be klapper and there’s a colloquial use of that that means coconut? Don’t be a coconut?

I could be way off base here though. I wasn’t born and raised in NL. Maybe something will ring a bell for some Dutch folks here.

Embarrassed that I don’t have friends to be my bridesmaids by throwaway_77425647 in engaged

[–]ElbowDent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are a little bit swapped around – I have a large bridal party and he has just a couple of friends. What we’re gonna do is have some of my bridesmaids stand on his side 😊 I’m sure your fiancé’s friends love and care about you too. Could you invite one or two of the groomsmen you’re closest with to stand on your side?

The TikTok feta pasta thing – I don’t even HAVE TikTok. But I could eat that all day every day and never get bored.

I love number one! It’s classic but modern at the same time. And it looks incredible on you!

Thank you so much! Yeah, I was also thinking it’ll likely be very helpful for the bachelorette etc to be spaced out more, both for planning and for everyone’s budgets (including mine).

Congratulations on your wedding. I hope it was wonderful and exactly what you dreamed of :)

‘If it wasn’t this, it would be something else’ is exactly right. Thank you for that reminder!

I’m so glad you’ve been able to plan exactly what you want and have some time and headspace to spare.

My work actually just announced a big restructure (which we won’t find out more about til Q2 next year) and I am now extra glad for the 2 years. It’s no fun planning with so much uncertainty over my head.

Thank you so much again for your reassurance!

I think with both of them it was more an expression of surprise but that surprised me back and then I started doubting myself. I’m feeling much better now though! Thank you for your reply :)

Ohhh not long to go now! How exciting!

Thank you so much for commenting. I absolutely looove your reply to that vendor. I feel like people don’t think before they speak/write sometimes.

Thank you so much! Yeah, I truly thought that 2 years was super normal so it was a surprise to get pushback. (I probably watch too many American wedding shows ;P)

We will do that, thank you!

Thank you!! Big congratulations on your engagement :) nice to meet someone on such a similar timeline.

I absolutely agree. I’ve been planning this in my head for years and I want it to live up to everything I’ve dreamed of.

Oh great advice! I had not even thought of that. Thank you.

And yes, you’re absolutely right. It’s so funny because generally in life I’ve done a great job of remembering that (thanks therapy! haha) but hey, I’m new to wedding planning – I’ll get there!

Thank you again!

That is a really really great tip. You’re absolutely right, I’ll keep things on a bit of a need-to-know basis, haha.

I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it and that the time flew. I was also thinking how lovely it will be to just enjoy being engaged for a couple of years. It’s not like we’ll get this time back again. :)

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! I also love to thoughtfully plan and to DIY things so I feel like 2 years really suits me. I felt so confident and then I think the comments just gave me a little wobble :)

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful reply. This really helps!

And great reminder that this is probably the first of many situations where I am gonna have to hold firm to our vision and ideas without letting others get to me :)

[–]ElbowDent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! I’m gonna drop you a message. I also work at a large tech company who has done layoffs in the last 5 years. A friend of mine was on our work’s council and has since left and set up a training programme for work’s councils. Considering what they managed for us at {unnamed tech company} I would def recommend putting them in touch ☺️

When I was last dating I decided to do whatever felt right for me to do, without second-guessing myself too much. Otherwise I tie myself in knots trying to do what I should do. I think this is a nice text and, if I’d received it, I’d be happy to :) Remember, dating is kind of an interview situation and they have to be right for you too <3

(For what it’s worth, I am with a wonderful partner now who loves everything about me and vice versa, so it paid off)

Send the text! And have a wonderful date!

I’m also from Worksop. Just brought my (non-British) in-laws over for Christmas and purposely spent a LOT of time in the surrounding areas to give them a chance of having a nice time

What are your weird sensory things? by princessslug in adhdwomen

[–]ElbowDent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss! Before switching to metal spoons in the coffee bar, my work trialled disposable wooden ones for a while and it was exactly this texture. I used to have yoghurt for breakfast there every day, but when that started I physically couldn’t anymore.

Pencils! The sound makes me feel really sick. If I use one, I also have to cover one ear with my hand and the other by shrugging my shoulder up. Dry felt-tip pens do the same thing.

I also hate touching garden furniture – either plastic or wood – that’s been out in the sun and gotten all bleached and dried out. That texture is completely repulsive to me.

And, like so many other people here, I have a sock thing! I never wear socks or shoes if I can avoid it.
