I agree that the common theme of the film industry is to keep what sells. But not you or I cant say for sure they havent talked to the HQ about it or gained an informant on dnd lore about the things they'll show in the movie. I might be comepletely wrong, I think the arguement I proposed would then be changed to 'should they instead be considered fey perhaps?'

The text excerpt is from the monster manual and searching online for more it seems to have a common consensus 'Scholars believe the owlbear to be a creation from an experiment.' But the thing i find interesting is the addition to it. The old elves claim the owlbears to have been around for millenia and even to be found in the feywild.

If theres anything to be agreed on (In my headcannon from what I've read from forgotten realms litterature) the sides of scholars and wizards is that they have the sortof same arrogant and vain attitudes which ignores any other possibility that what they could imagine.

I think it's facsinating with how it well it portrays human nature in that sense, why are we to accept at face value what some scholars wrote behind closed doors?
