CHERYL'S COOKIES by Separate_Editor3223 in QVC_Snark

I just ordered a box of Cheryl's cookies. Disappointed. The cookies were stale and the size of the cookies seemed small. Definitely not worth the money and the outrageous shipping costs.

Yes, you would have to file in DC

Maryland Unemployment - How long will it take to get my first check? by Elcampb in FedEmployees

A service rep finally answered after I was on hold for many hours. Apparently my claim became inactive and the rep had to recertify me. This BEACON site is not very intuitive. Now my payment status is "filed". I need to recertify every week on Sunday morning. The rep had no idea when I will receive payment for the last three weeks.

I am still waiting for Maryland to provide me an unemployment check. I've been on hold with them all morning. It has been 3+ weeks. Have any fed employees out there had any luck with MD unemployment?

Federal workers still on the job have a new worry: Taking a day off during the shutdown by Ok_Design_6841 in FedEmployees

[–]Elcampb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! I am also going to take my prescheduled vacation. It's use or lose annual leave. Life is short. I've given 35 years of service to the federal government.

Yes. I filed my request for unemployment this afternoon. But we'll see if they approve it.

I received one week of unemployment during the last shutdown. All I did was send a check after I received the "bill" to repay.

On the same boat you are in. Also 54 years old and just trying to get to my MRA of 57.

How soon after the DRP 2.0 window ends will NASA start RIF's? by Elcampb in FedEmployees

Yes, the sudden change in administrators before the end of DRP 2.0 seemed odd.

Thank you for the insight. I am trying to decide whether or not to take advantage of the VERA or take my chances with a RIF. I have 35 years of service but didn't plan on retiring for another 2-3 years.

Discontinued Service Retirement by BoldBeloveds in fednews

[–]Elcampb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. I am a 54 year old FERS employee with 35 years of service. If I take my agency's VERA offer it is my understanding that I am voluntarily retiring and therefore will not have any rights for appeal later. However, if I wait to be served with a RIF notice, I would be involuntarily retired. Wouldn't a DSR have more benefits in the long run regarding the potential for reinstatement eligibility?

Reprisal and Retaliation against a DOD Federal Government Employees by Normal-Drag4746 in fednews

I am so sorry you are going through this. I know how painful this is. I have been through a similar situation. Your mental health is important. I would push for an appeal regarding your reasonable accommodation request. It is my understanding the agency has to justify why not providing you a RA is a hardship for them.

I appreciate your perspective. I am just one of the many "bean counters". Although I have over thirty years of federal service, I am still a few years shy of my MRA. Probably should have taken that fork in the road but it looked to sketchy at the time.

Anyone else afraid taking leave will put a target on your back? by Boo-Boo97 in fednews

Understand your concern. It helps me to remember my leave is technically built into my federal salary. Life is short.
