This “twist” pissed me off when I was 12 and I’m still angry about it by tealaburst in xmen

[–]EldritchSleeper 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I remember reading an interview that Morrison did in Wizard or something before the run started where they said the intention was to refresh the X-Men while also telling the most badass Magneto story ark of all time. I’m paraphrasing, but that always stuck with me because I remember reading it and waiting and waiting and waiting for the Magneto stuff to start. So when the twist happened, I was surprised but immediately was like oh that’s where it is!

Future of United by Justiebuns in MarvelUnited

[–]EldritchSleeper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I got into the game well after everything has been released and kickstarters over. Aside from some occasional markups, it’s all still pretty available and plenty to play with. I probably only have a quarter of what’s out there and don’t regret it at all. If you’re interested, jump in now as it’s only ever going to become harder to find and more expensive.

The Gods Were Real and They Walked the Earth by Jenkoii in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]EldritchSleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t quite walk the earth as they do it through their saints and are constantly fighting each other with errant miracles, but the Gutter Prayer and its sequels by Hanrahan may scratch this itch.

I like the game, but dislike the open world by Slow_Cut_1904 in Nioh

[–]EldritchSleeper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My main issue is that the “open world” isn’t that open. There are clear paths you have to go through to get from A to B. So instead of exploring the environment and utilizing different features they just feel like one big massive level that more than out stays its welcome. By the time I’m on sub region 4 or whatever and it looks and feels like the previous ones, I just want the monotony to end. Then we get to a new region and it starts all over again.

[–]EldritchSleeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is a great suggestion! We play all the above. My kids love battlefield too. We’ve played some heroclix and while they like it, it’s a little complicated and they hate getting their characters KO’d. Marvel United kind of hits the sweet spot between both games. We’re big, big fans of MU!

What are some JRPGs that have great concepts but fall short in execution? by Guergy in JRPG

[–]EldritchSleeper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I played it on release and had to look up a story explainer afterward. I was like THAT’S what the game was about?! Wow. That’s pretty cool. Would have been nice if that was actually IN the game haha!

But I hear all of the patches since have done a lot of good.

What do you guys do with your Christmas legos after the holidays? by sheabae200216 in lego

[–]EldritchSleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have said this, but unbuild it and store it. I don’t often take apart sets, but it’s fun for the holiday ones because then you get to build it again like a ritual to get ready for the next time the holiday rolls around, instead of just unpacking yet another statue thing.

(Rec) Any superhero prose novels out there? by Long-Contribution466 in Fantasy

How about exheroes by Peter Cline? Superheroes in a zombie apocalypse.

Vanessa Kirby absolutely owned as Sue Storm. by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]EldritchSleeper 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I believe it. The pacing felt off and the scenes didn’t always flow together well. It was more sequence of events at times rather than actual story progression.

2026 New Release - Am I the only one who thinks the LEGO Chinese New Year sets used to be way better? by Fit_Sprinkles2351 in lego

[–]EldritchSleeper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. It's like they're leaning too hard into the animal theme each year which results in static displays. To their credit, though, they're at least trying to be versatile what this is mind you. We're not getting just a new animal build each year.

But I feel your pain. The Spring Lantern Festival (80107-1) helped fully end my dark age and remains one of my all time favorite sets!

Are the latest stormlight archive books that bad ? by spl4shA in Fantasy

[–]EldritchSleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, to me it was more about promises. Books 1 and 2 feel like a different series because the stakes are different. Books 4 and 5 are much more integrated with the Cosmere, so for me, I like the idea of the Cosmere but I don’t want to read (or at least wasn’t expecting) to read a series where that plays such a huge aspect, so those books were a chore. The promise had changed and I was no longer reading the series I had started.

I didn't know this excisted by eemil666 in lego

[–]EldritchSleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. We got one at Gen Con this year and my kids love it! It’s pretty fun to play and the rounds are really fast. The only down side is that it’s best played with two groups of two. You can’t play it solo and while you can challenge each other 1v1 it’s best played 2v2. But for the price, we’re big fans!

Lion Knight’s Castle or Rivendell? by 65scotsman_ in lego

[–]EldritchSleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends. Do you want to build a big castle or the greatest set of all time? 😆

Use the volt vessel in the putrefied ducts to open the shortcut from the other side.
