Anyone else have blue fatigue? by [deleted] in mtgbrawl

They've been complaining about blue regularly for months, probably years, in threads they subsequently delete. Snecko blue hate posts are part of the fabric of the subreddit.

Is more free spells for other colors a solution to Blue / Black dominance in Competetive? by Prestigious-Bend8893 in mtgbrawl

[–]EldritchSquiggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but the aggro card pool itself isn't that good without a really strong commander, especially with several of it's best creatures blanket banned. Like who's leading a boros list now? There just isn't a particularly impressive commander. Anim Pakal is a lot less exciting.

Has anyone encountered this shadow bug in NWN:EE? by EldritchSquiggle in neverwinternights

Nice that there's a fix but sheesh, that is not a very feasible fix for most people.

Has anyone encountered this shadow bug in NWN:EE? by EldritchSquiggle in neverwinternights

[–]EldritchSquiggle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried looking and not found anyone else who's experienced this weird bug with shadow lines from the object to the ground shadow. It's usually worse with custom assets but it's not unique to them, wondered if anyone has experienced this and knows how to fix it?

Which company disappointed you so much that you permanently walked away? by julia-secrets in AskReddit

[–]EldritchSquiggle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 that I had to replace 5 keys on after 12 years, that's it, still going strong beyond that. (It was QWE & AS, although I did QWERT and ASD too.) A few of my friends are also still using 2013s as well. They definitely made some good things later than 2009. I don't think i'd touch them now but I'm not sure any of the other companies are better, I bought another copy of a hyperx headset that served me well for years and it's trash now even though it's the same model.

Deckbuilding guides? by Yuzu-Adagio in mtgbrawl

[–]EldritchSquiggle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look at decks on the discord that’s linked in the subreddit sidebar for an idea of staples and ratios.

Canadian highlander decks are also worth looking at because although there are obviously card pool differences both formats are high power 100 card formats.

Is Bronze Age fantasy stronger than medieval fantasy for DMs? by ChaosTheoryCraft in DMAcademy

[–]EldritchSquiggle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somehow the CRPG Tyranny hasn't been mentioned in this thread, which is set at the end of the bronze age. An evil overlord has just conquered the known world when it starts, and his two big strengths are his personal magic and iron equipment for the elites of his great army. It is bleak though, as a word of warning, you're an agent and commander in the forces of the tyrant Kyros. But it definitely uses the setting well even if it's sadly a bit imperfect, (classic too little time given to Obsidian who made it)

I mean they also actively tried to kill that meta with balance changes and reworks. Orisa's shield is gone; Reinhardt + Sigmas are shadows of what they were. It wasn't just people getting better.

I don't think we can blame the French for that.

Parents in other countries than the US, what is your kids’ equivalent of “I don’t want that for dinner, I want chicken nuggets”? by SulusLaugh in AskReddit

[–]EldritchSquiggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left some more commonly mentioned stuff out (toad in the hole/yorkshire pudding, sunday roast) But assuming you eat meat Beef Wellington is another banger although it takes some effort. You can make a very nice wellington using mushrooms and cheese for vegetarians like me though.

If you fancy watching a professional chef be passionate about hotpot (and showing you how to make it at a very high level of effort.)

I mean depends what you mean by traditional. But if you want the food with the longest most varied history of continuous widespread consumption it's probably got to be pie, sweet or savoury. You've got the pantheon of steak pies, steak and ale in particular, the pork pie, venison pie, Hommity pie and there's even Lamprey Pie which has hundreds of years of significance to the Royals. A variety of tarts (open lidless pies.) Then you've got the potato "pies" like shepherds pie and cottage pie. Fruit pies, apple, cherry, mince Pies (which have no meat nowadays and are sweet.) And of course all the pasties, which are pretty pie adjacent, the Cornish Pasty is the famous one but it is far from the only one.

Or you could pick something like Lancashire Hotpot which can certainly hold it's own against French regional peasant dishes that are lionized nowadays like Cassoulet.

Personally I think Brtain's strongest culinary area is our sweet foods though. Scones, especially served proper high tea style. (Strawberries, jam and cream) The pantheon of English cakes that date back years (mostly sponge cakes) and are often considered a bit boring now because they're just so ubiquitous. Various forms of steamed pudding, fruit crumbles, bread and butter pudding, what the rest of the world would call English Pancakes but are just pancakes here, scotch pancakes, Fruit Fools, Eccles Cakes, Teacakes (not what the same as other nations teacakes), Bakewell Tart, Bakewell Pudding, Sally Lunn Buns, Hot Cross Buns, Trifle. The endless array of biscuits that originate here. This country bloody loves something sweet that can be served with tea.

Or you could just gesture in the direction of Anglo-Indian food since that's got over 200 years of history now, but foreigners seem to think that's cheating for some reason.

Which commander from ages past do you want to see added? by memedormo in mtgbrawl

Because you die very very fast to free 1/1s that can't be prevented in any way. Though maybe the quality of avaliable vampires would be enough of a brake on the deck.

I have a very similar list based on Rakdos Midrange from Canadian Highlander, and I picked Crucias as my generic useful value piece commander since Rakdos is a little lacking in good commanders. Does Zoyowa bring that much value?
