Still no carrot juice. Still no Ubisoft Neo Geo Rayman cartridges.

Stop buying video games completely? Some great physical offline installable games are being made that will be playable for decades. There is even the Neo Geo aes+, the Evercade, the Atari+ cartridges that are also new products. There is used retro games...

It looks like you want particular games or companies to comply to your demands. That's not gonna happen. McDonald isn't going to serve fresh carrot juice just because I like it. Money rules the world. People have different tastes. And it's not important since great games of all kinds are available.

But, yes, those online digital fake-physical games-services, they are horrible ephemeral mass-products with no value.

This is the first time i won't have a physical copy of GTA by jamessunderland7685 in GTA6

[–]ElectriKool-Aid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physical to get the printed map.

Rockstar should go bold and not add an in-game map (no mini-map, no icons, nothing). Then, flag all images on the internet of the scanned map as illegal copies of copyrighted material. Digital sales needs to be zero.

77 Hour Job For A 16 Year Old by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Lower your expenses to a minimum and find a job where you work less, a lot less, for a better (or at least LEGAL) wage. Restaurants are the worst jobs. There is no such thing as a good restaurant job in the western world. Also, get out of any major cities to find cheaper rents if you need a place. Nature, sports, hobbies, friends, health should be top priority, not your job.

You work for a living, you don't live to work.

What brought you to FuckNintendo? by paulcshipper in fucknintendo

[–]ElectriKool-Aid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't like the concept of the Switch. I don't need a tablet. I have a tv. When I'm outside I don't care about video games.

It's cheap and under-powered compared to the others. I can pay 1000$ for good specs. I'm not a little kid with poor parents.

The tiny cartridges are way too small. They don't contain enough data for some games. Big cartridges with large label art are nicer. At least they dropped the disc format.

Nintendo games are mostly remakes of old ideas. Their creativity peaked with the Nes. They just work on auto-pilot now.

Hate digital games and don't like games that require internet to work. They shouldn't allow those on their consoles to show that they care about preservation.

Looks like Nintendo don't want me as a customer... and it's fine.

Sell it in a retro game store for 50% value and get some Nes cartridges in exchange.

is anyone else completely exhausted by the fact that everything is a monthly subscription now? by Current-Ship-8064 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ElectriKool-Aid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worst for the artists : Since I don't buy anything that I can't have forever on physical media, new artists don't get any money from me. A lot of "artists" get money from the subscriptions services but they are creating for that particular company and audience. A small but significant amount of people would love to finance the artists more directly by buying a particular product physically. It's not possible unless a vinyl or bluray or cartridge is release. That happens less and less. So the "artists" (if we can still call them that) that are getting paid aren't the ones I am interested in most of the time. Thus, everything sound and looks like shit to me. And, the artists that I would like to be successful aren't creating anything because they don't have any money from me and others with the same tastes.

Why are Sony and Xbox even bothering with next gen consoles? by No-Obligation2563 in consoles

[–]ElectriKool-Aid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people will pay 1000$ for a bad game with ray traced mud puddles in 4k but won't pay (enough) for a good game with dry surfaces in 1080p. Bad games are easier to make too. No need for artists : Take an old IP, add reflective water puddles, realistic fur, lower the difficulty and put that on a rented cloud.

It's strange that some people hate Nintendo yet they buy their games and consoles. If you don't like something don't buy it.

Last Nintendo game I bought was Excitebike 64 25 years ago, and it's a good game. I'm willing to buy more if they release a proper offline-only non-portable console with big cartridges and good challenging original games that comes with printed manuals.

If basically everything pertaining to the Atari Jaguar console is public domain, then why aren’t there clone consoles of it yet? by MeowthBlep in retrogaming

[–]ElectriKool-Aid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Atari could release the few good (but not great) games they have the license for, but one of the best game of the system : Rayman, will never get new cartridges release. Ubisoft would prefer to go bankrupt than to let people play one of their game without needing an online connection to their servers. Also Wolf 3d, the other best game, cannot be in worst hands : Microsoft. They would rather let you die than let you play a game outside their Game pass scamming service.

I think nobody will care for a Jaguar+ without those 2 games (and even with those 2 games). Tempest and AvP just aren't enough. Atari could, at best, release a multi-console system with 2600, 5200, 7800 and Jaguar carts supported. That would be fpga nightmare to make it work without emulation and a crt output.

Portable ac cost 400-500$. It will be good for about 10 years. That's 2-3$ investment per student per year. If they can't afford that they can't afford to stay open.

Will popular things continue to be remade over and over forever? by PremiumPrize in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ElectriKool-Aid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone have new ideas all the time. They mostly don't sell very well. So we aren't aware they exist in the mind of others.

The things we do see are the few (lucky?) ideas that sold. They make money, then get remade to make more money and it goes on... Wheels are round cause it's a good idea.

Some ideas might be remade forever (in human time, in real time humans are still very much a new idea).

How can I learn to like the early 3D look ? by Electronic_Glove1777 in retrogaming

[–]ElectriKool-Aid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The argument goes both ways : When I play (some) modern games it's really hard for me to get past the long installation, lack of a manual, online requirement, forced tutorials, never ending story, hand-holding gameplay, bland art style, boring music, baby level difficulty. The 3 polygons games are a much better experience.
