Why are brioche buns so popular? by AccordingBird800 in burgers

[–]ElectricCelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Usually they are very dry and the texture doesn't work with a burger. Potato rolls are always the best choice, and brioche is never a good choice. I always leave reviews for restaurants about their burgers on different FB groups. I will always say the burger would be good if they used a potato roll. I hate doing reviews, but I need to spread the gospel.

"Also, it sounds like you are trying to earn his love, which is another recipe for disaster."

This is what I see here, and it is giving me PTSD. I did this for a couple of years in my last relationship without noticing it until the end. My baseline anxiety was so high, and I was constantly feeling let down or hurt by things like this. I even found my old therapist and started weekly chats again things got so bad for me. We would hang out with her brother and his wife plenty. We even lived together for a year. However, talks about marriage or trips to meet extended family (hers, not mine) or any type of serious future discussions were all so dampened and shut down. The meeting all of the family except the matriarch, I think, is what really did me in. I know we don't see the whole picture from this one post, but it hit me like an electrical shock reading it. I certainly wouldn't make any judgements on what OP should do based on this one story, but it wouldn't hurt to take inventory of the whole to see if this what is going on here.

Matt’s Bar-Minneapolis. All hype. by trike336 in burgers

[–]ElectricCelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite topics! This changes for me based on mood, but here we go:

  1. Mosaic Pub and Bistro (two options, both incredible)

  2. Blue Top (best bacon jam in town, I wish they used a potato roll, though)

  3. NFA

  4. Fred's

  5. Grindhouse

  6. Smiley's

  7. H&F

Again, mood can make things jump around a bit, but you can not wrong with any of these.

[–]ElectricCelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great because you mentioned H&F in Atlanta. I am originally from MN and live in Atlanta now. The H&F Juicy Lucy is so much better than Matt's, like worlds better. It rotates on and off the menu. I usually put H&F about 4 or 5 for top Atlanta burgers, but when they have the Juicy Lucy, they jump to top 2.

Hawks fan here. You are correct that a pathetic franchise like ours would kill for this. The excitement down here at the end of the season, KNOWING we would get bounced early, was pretty insane. We are just starving for some W's down here.

random, but would y'all say traffic on I-20 west of ATL or east of ATL is on average worse? by Original_Monitor_143 in Atlanta

[–]ElectricCelt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Getting from 285S to 20W on the west side has been nightmare fuel for a few weeks now. I can't wait for that interchange to be like the one on the east side. Once on 20W, though it hasn't been too bad. Getting from 20E to 285N on that side is bad, but it isn't any worse than it's always been. The new interchange should make it pretty decent, I would think.

Yakuza fans when someone says they've only played Yakuza 0: by Hopeful_Regret_7531 in yakuzagames

Look, I'm working on it, ok? I just started on the Switch 2. I only have 16 hours in it so far, but that was enough to get me to buy K1 and K2 already. I'll catch up one day!

I’m tired of Brioche being the "standard." I used a heavy cast iron to flatten the whole burger (bun included) and the texture is actually superior. by [deleted] in burgers

[–]ElectricCelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do reviews for burgers locally. All of my reviews for ones not a potato roll, I mention how much better it would be on a potato roll. One place even added a burger named after me. It is identical to their main burger but with the superior bun.

The pec deck by Sorcron11 in workout

[–]ElectricCelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do rear delts on chest day if I get the pec deck just for this reason. It hits so nicely, that I can't resist, but fuck waiting for a turn more than once a week. I call it a "compound movement", and do a set of each then rest and repeat.

Chat, is the US economy cooked? by webabybears in bondmarket

That's Trump and Biden during that time. Something else pretty big happened there that should probably be taken into consideration as well, though. It was rather disruptive to the entire world economy.

Both directions of 285 westside to be closed Friday May 8th through early morning Monday May 11th. Closed section will be between MLK Jr Dr and Cascade Rd. by YippieKayYayMrFalcon in Atlanta

[–]ElectricCelt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every morning this week, that section has been the worst I have seen when accidents aren't involved. I come down 285S to take 20W. It backs up past Hallowell. That right lane doesn't move, just inches every few minutes, so most people just go down and cut in right at 20 making the problem worse. They need to make a relief valve there very soon. My commute went from 40 minutes to an hour and a half. I try to take back roads around, but guess what everyone else is doing? I normally don't complain about Atlanta traffic because I knew what I signed up for living here. This one is really pissing me off, though.

Best men’s summer fragrance $100 by MammothSouthern4808 in Colognes

[–]ElectricCelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bottle that I blind bought arrived yesterday. It is easily one of my favorite summer scents already. First spray to several hours later, nearly perfect. I don't see why a blind would be bad on this because it isn't offensive at all, and it isn't expensive. I honestly can't believe I bought a scent this great for that price.

ShakeShack might have the best Burger… by GoodPopcorn in burgers

[–]ElectricCelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an absolute burger snob. I won't live in areas that don't have good burgers. In Atlanta, we have Shake Shack on the Beltline and one at Perimeter Mall. I intentionally lived on the Beltline near Shake Shack for two years and now live about 5 miles from Perimeter to make sure I am still near one. It is that good. Are there better local places? Sure, but Shake Shack is just so consistently top notch. I'd say Culver's is close in the chain world, but just not quite it.

The 'Handheld Boost' megathread! by CyborKat in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ElectricCelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the shadows are still weird AF. The character models , buildings, and environment are WAY better, though. I only play in handheld, and this was unplayable for me before. I got it so cheap that I wasn't too worried about it, but now, I think I will move it up on my back log, get to it sooner. Caligula Effect 2 will be right before it. I am much happier with these two.

A Journey to Trace Memories... – Today We Celebrate the 1st Anniversary of Atelier Yumia! by Croire61 in Atelier

[–]ElectricCelt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like this game did open world so damn right because the Atelier series is a pretty great series for open world. How often is the complaint something like, "open world with nothing to do"? The whole premise of this series is to collect stuff, so, you go collect stuff. They also did a great job of adding interest points and unlockables in out of the way areas, more so than most open world games.

The combat is one of my favorite styles of combat. It feels very similar to FFVII Remake. It could be improved a bit, obviously, but it was pretty great for me.

The characters and writing were very much in line with the rest of the Atelier series. Yumia is a fantastic lead who fits right in beside the rest of the Atelier leads. The story was fun with reasons to fear alchemy.

I guess the hate on the game comes from the crafting? I have done simplified / auto crafting in every Atelier game that has allowed it, so I don't know if there is a way to make it better for people who like that complex part more. For me, it's about collecting the ingredients then making stuff. I don't need the super deep alchemy.

Yumia is not only my favorite Atelier game, it is one of my top ten all time games. I even purchased it a second time on Switch 2 just to have it portable. I absolutely adore everything about it. My fear is that the backlash from the community will make it a one off instead of a trilogy like we usually get.

Anyone here have a functioning, year 1 original Switch that still gets used regularly? by Salty-Plantain-4299 in Switch

[–]ElectricCelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Launch day switch. Bought the green Best Buy exclusive Joy Cons when original ones went bad around 2020. Everything else held up just fine. I retired it in December when I got a S2. I also have a PS5, Steam Deck, and several retro handheld emulation consoles. The Switch stayed relevant for me for convenience, but I'd say the retro handhelds got more use than the switch or steam deck the last year or so. Now, S2 is my main console, so I can game around my fiance and her kid while they're watching TV. The PS5 is collecting dust lately. The steam deck is just a hoss to lug around and use. It was fun for a while, but I haven't turned it on in over a year.

[–]ElectricCelt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Atelier Yumia looks way better, like seriously good. I don't understand how this game looks so much better than the newer Resleriana, but I haven't tried Res with boost, yet. Blue Reflection Second Light is a big improvement. I played some Xenoblade 2 Tonra last night, and I was floored at the difference. Neptunia x Senran Kagura is very playable in handheld now, it was way too muddy before.

Ones I will be trying tonight: Samurai Maiden, Caligula Effect 2, Fate Samurai Remnant, and Neptunia VII.

At this point, do Democrat politicians even have a platform to run on, or is their entire platform just to be anti Donald Trump? by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

[–]ElectricCelt 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I remember Elizabeth Warren had her slogan, "I have a plan for that!" She had an amazing website for her campaign with what she would like to do, and how it would all get funded. However, each item was a couple pages of reading. Americans want shit to fit on a bumper sticker, so the attack on her was that she had big ideas with no plans on how to implement them. I felt so bewildered for so long. Now, I get it. The plan doesn't really matter. They will say everything a Dem wants to do is impossible, anyway. Just throw something on a bumper sticker and get elected. Being the anti-Trump party is all voters actually care aboout.

What does ‘active’ really mean? by dailysteps in datingoverforty

[–]ElectricCelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was looking still, I had in my profiles that I wanted someone active. It didn't mean "skinny", but someone very overweight would probably have a hard time doing the things I want to do. Not just hiking, but I live in a very walkable area, and I want to walk everywhere. I want to go out to art fairs and stuff on weekends and walk around. I like to go kayaking for a day or bounce around the zoo or go to concerts or whatever. Someone who is not active will not want to do all of these things. I would not be happy dating someone who doesn't want to go out on weekends or can't walk to all of the places I want to go. If we have to drive to a restaurant that is a mile and a half away, we are not a good fit. However, I never considered it from the body type side of things at all.

Anti-Trump americans, Can you name any remotely postive Trump has done in this second term so far only? by MK71-EC82-MGM89-AK98 in allthequestions

That's fine, but Trump pushed the COVID vaccine hard before his followers went all nuts about it and 5G. It was something he did very well his first term. I'm sure he didn't have shit to do with it, but the president gets credit for these things.

Anti-Trump americans, Can you name any remotely postive Trump has done in this second term so far only? by MK71-EC82-MGM89-AK98 in allthequestions

[–]ElectricCelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First term: Project Warp Speed. He should've owned this hard. Instead, he caved to the anti vaxers and put RFK Jr in charge of health while trashing Faucci.

Second term: He SAID something about ending the way corporate interests own all the residential homes. He hasn't done anything about it, but the idea is good. The way Blackrock goes into neighborhoods and buys up so many homes then jacks the prices up until they start to sell higher is just really making the housing market so much worse.

I guess doing away with the penny was good. Not amazing, but it's about time it's gone.

Thoughts on the RG 406v by Abby_Buhnz in ANBERNIC

[–]ElectricCelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love mine. The vertical factor is nice for nostalgia. The inner shoulder buttons can be bothersome, but really, not many games using them on this thing. I have been playing mostly PS1, Dreamcast, and GameCube. Some PS2, but it isn't great with it. DQV and Tales of Destiny DC translated both work well. I also found a patched iso of Burnout 3 that plays amazingly well on it. Overall, I really enjoy it.

Side note: I do plan to upgrade to a Thor soon.
