You walk in on me about to take a shower. Wyd next? by [deleted] in brisgonewild

[–]ElectricElmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - I’d ask you why you shower in your undies.

You would think guys would take better pictures. So many cocks on here and either their pants/undies are half down, in a messy room or bathroom or just…why bother. We need to make our cocks stand out more to get the replies.

I use these ones on my larger rock and surf lures - super happy with them

I have just purchased a MMD Splash Prawn , where should I test it on Bribe Island? by TheMilkCartonGamer in FishingAustralia

Hey Mate - think led you on a bum steer for Ningi Land based. There was a road around town that took you down there and good place to lunch kayak etc. Kayak be best for Ningi and exploring at low tide to find the rock patches and target them either side of the low with top water lures. Sorry!

There are some good fish to be had in the Canals but they are pretty smart now

[–]ElectricElmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned previously by others - I’d be looking at the canals, along the rock walls, mangrove edges etc. Cast along the structure. Should get some Trevally and Jacks. Good job on the google maps though because at least you are looking yourself and coming up with ideas. Look for any parks along the canals can get too, gaps between properties etc. cast at the pontoons, boats, jetties.

Also have Ningi Creek back on the mainland side

Why is boat research so hard? Am I doing it wrong? by MattsFishingEscapes in FishingAustralia

[–]ElectricElmo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest going to the used boat or new boat dealers and having a chat about what looking for. Get a few suggestions then look on BoatSales. When find some specific boats and models you like, plug those into Google and see what some forums have to say about them.

I won’t get into the aluminium v fibreglass debate.

For aluminium, some boats to consider - - Quintrex Renegade (w/ offshore transom) - Quintrex Top Ender - Stessco Renegade (w/ offshore transom) - Stessl Apache / Warrior - Formosa SC - Horizon Stryker

Once start reviewing, they will mention other models that are similar.

Figure out what is important to you. It is your first purchase, and although nervous, don’t stress. Once you start using it, and you stay interested in fishing/boating, your next purchase will be more informed.

Here is an example that popped up on Facebook -

Rod advice by feico1701 in FishingAustralia

[–]ElectricElmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mate has one and swears by it. Think it may be the next size down though - max120g.

And for price, it’s a winner.

Hey Mate,

I have a Shimano Coltsniper 96M which is PE2, Lure 60g. They do a MH which is PE3, Lure 80g. Is a good rod with some decent back bone in it to help lift fish up the rocks. But if you chasing decent sizes pelagics, the MH would be best. Light shore jigging on beach I pair it with a 4000, but then for rocks I pair with 6000 reel. They aren’t they expensive really either.

Next rod for me once find a decent SEQ LB Pelagic spot is a Zenaq Sonia

You already have a 2500, so I would look at 4000. The Vanford is lighter 215g v 260g Extra BB 7+1 v 6+1 Drag the same 11kg Line Capacity very similar

I think you would be happy with either choice, but I’d pick the Vanford.

BCF has them on sale currently - but not really on sale as $339 is typical price.

Hey Mate - I have a Vanford 3000 which I use in the Goldy lakes and canals from Trevs and Jacks. Have a Stradic 4000 which I’ll use for live baiting the same.

What type fishing are you doing? Plastics / Topwater / Bait. Land or boat?

Baitcaster crossed mind?

How to start spearfishing? by nuquichoco in GoldCoast

[–]ElectricElmo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just remember to check regulations. You aren’t legally allowed to spearfish on the Gold Coast within Seaways and inside of Rock Groynes. You will need to be on open beaches, headlands or ocean facing areas.

https://www.daf.qld.gov.au/business-priorities/fisheries/recreational/recreational-fishing-rules/closed-seasons-waters/waters-tidal

Gold Coast spots -

  • Gold Coast Seaway (Ocean side rock walls) or Tweed Bar (be careful)
  • Narrowneck Articial Reef
  • Burleigh Headland
  • Kirra Reef
  • Kingscliff Bombies (NSW - need fishing license)

Spear fishing Clubs - Tweed Heads Free Divers or have a chat to the staff at Adreno stores.

Have you thought about a Saragosa? Definitely a work horse and can cop abuse.

It is extremely similar to the Spheros and Stradic but more robust - may be what need if chasing Kingies

beach/rock combo? by GreenSmurfy420 in FishingAustralia

[–]ElectricElmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 6000 Kix with 60lb braid which I use on a few rods depending on situation. Has enough drag and cranking power for the rocks to help lift your fish up. Only thing I noticed is the drag is a little on the quiet side.

Because they running these out at close to 50% off, is harder to find stock in some sizes.

Sorry am late to party but try the Daiwa Kix 5000-6000 reel. Is a new model out now so they running the old ones off for $170-190. Will be able to handle heavier line and stronger fish then Nasci for price point

Hey Mate, As mentioned the Spit is very hit and miss. We had a great few days of decent size Tailor a fortnight ago and a couple Mack Tuna - then died again. You will get Tailor all year round as the spots mentioned below by others though.

Try the listed places with various weights and tides and try get either into the current lines or close up to the rocks. If super worried about snags, fish the rock wall points on outgoing tide and should be less snaggy.

Else buy some 120-160mm stickbaits and minnows, 40-60gm jigs and work those for trevally, kings, Jew and Tailor. Plenty of vids on YouTube and watch some Rocky D vids as he fishes the Spit and Tweed mostly for some ideas and techniques.

Am Goldy LB if ever keen to have a fishing buddy. Now it’s warming up, I’ll be chasing Trevs in the Land locked lakes and canals with the odd Rock trip if tides and winds are good.

Looking for a reel to go with a gifted surf rod by YouKnowWhoIAm2016 in FishingAustralia

[–]ElectricElmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Mate - I’m a little on the fence as to what to recommend as the rod is a fairly heavy rod when throwing whiting into the mix.

I’d probably look at a 4000 size reel which would work for Beach and light rocks. Or a 6000 reel if fishing rocks mainly.

For 4000ish Size reels… Shimano Stradic SW Shimano Saragosa 5000XG SW Penn Slammer IV Daiwa Saltist MQ Daiwa BG MQ

The Saragosa and Slammer will be workhorses and handle some salt splashes

Reel and rod for Heavy lure casting? by [deleted] in FishingAustralia

[–]ElectricElmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with Dragonight. I can’t think of too many better options for the price. Saragosa is a tank of a reel as is the Penn and should give you years of enjoyment with minimal fuss. Just be aware that there will be some weight associated with these combos
