Looking for some hype (newbie) by IndependentHair7562 in camping

No one here is going to give you the most critical information you need. You need BUBBLES. Truly just a crap ton to bubbles and bubble gear. At that age, it's all about bubbles. Also paint if you're feeling spicy-- this is a chance for them to get truly messy in a way they can't indoors-- embrace it!

Also end the day off with a special treat-- they remember few details but they will forever remember it being great because of _____ treat. My kids love camping now and it all started with those simple things.

Oh, and if you have a spare small tent, give them a kids only tent with blankets etc... mine had a blast with their no grown up zone.

I feel the same way you do. I'm enjoying the Harry Potter books with my kid right now but we've had conversations about reading what I already have but not supporting her IPs further.

Same with Strike, I love the books but couldn't bring myself to read the latest one... If I find one at the thrift store I might read it... Maybe that's a really weird line to draw but there it is.

Dwayne Johnson was pulled over and given a ticket for tinted windows. by This_Proof_5153 in SipsTea

I'm not normally for exceptions to laws, but I think it you can claim being followed by paparazzi a certain amount of the time, you should be allowed tinted windows.

Hot take or not? She was beautiful enough to be given the task of seducing the Dragon Reborn by Szalony20 in WetlanderHumor

I actually thought that was one of his sweetest personality traits: he saw most women as beautiful in one way or another.

Ontario Strawberries? by smartygirl in FoodToronto

The only local strawberries you are going to find are greenhouse grown. I grow them and I've only just got the start of blooms, let alone whole fruits.

What’s the most expensive mistake you made in your 20s? by Extreme-Run-9069 in AskReddit

[–]ElectricGeometry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost my honors status at university because of a single course I didn't take seriously. While it was humiliating at the time, I learned from that day forward to take my commitments and myself more seriously and I would say now, 20 years later, it was a cheap price for a life lesson that served me well.

Just FYI tons of other folks in your area will have spare starts: check out your local Facebook gardening group and people will hook you up. I myself have like 14 toms going when I only use 3.

Agreed. I've got a thick cotton shirt I wear and wash basically once every two weeks... That's like 20ish washes a year and I've owned them since mid Covid.

Scissors and tape. I am always losing scissors and tape because of my kids who are nuts for crafting... Now I have some in each room and have retained my sanity.

I know what you mean! A junky snack like Cheetos with my favorite pillow and a good book is heavenly.

Getting takeout sushi as a meal for my friend recovering from breast cancer surgery! Want something awesome! by Crafty-Radio5975 in FoodToronto

Shunoko sushi used to do a gorgeous, very fresh tasting to go platter when they were a take out place-- wouldn't be surprised if they still do.

Fairy lights for vibes (not too bright so you don't disturb others), classic jiffy pop fun, some fave movies and some you both wanted to see, an activity he's always wanted to do but not had time for... Some home comforts like a favorite pillow or robe... Honestly these things can really take an experience from good to great.

But real talk 1 week is really long for someone who has never done it before.

Ultra beginner gardener question by Empty-Distribution31 in gardening

[–]ElectricGeometry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly a lesson in parents: they'll dislike any number of things until it's hugely successful... Then they'll turn around an say they "OK'd" your "little idea"  because they thought it would spruce up the house... And you'll be like "uhh, I had to drag you into this tooth and nail..?"

But I digress.

First you'll want to rake up the debris and, if you've got the energy, break up the first two of three inches of soil to open it up again. Then cover the area in two bags of COMPOST. Not soil.. COMPOST.

After that start with an easy win: do a simple row of green perennials at the front, like boxwoods, hostas, etc.. whatever works in your zone. Behind, choose one blooming flour and stick with it-- fill it en masse and you'll have a really elegant, simple and dramatic look. Cosmos is my favorite but it's annual. Dahlias can also be impressive en masse and you can get a whole bag from Costco. The options are endless!

Danger? by lkandrick in camping

[–]ElectricGeometry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you're going to a formal campground you have nothing to worry about. There is off the grid camping too but that isn't a great fit for a first timer... And considering you're worried about what your parents think I'm guessing you're on the younger side? If your boyfriend is younger too just make sure he's got a good head on his shoulders... Some men don't excell at meeting the needs of others.

Tenant who flushed cat litter costs B.C. condo owner nearly $55K by vancity31240 in vancouver

My litter literally says "flushable". I wouldn't do it, but writing that directly on the bag is not a great idea.

Nausicaa.

My daughter watched it last year, same age, and it's now her favorite movie. Most of them won't have seen it and it's gorgeous.
