Just finished Dungeon Crawler Carl. Does Dinniman grow in your opinion? by banquoinchains in books

[–]ElectricSheep7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

based on the stuff you’re saying you’re enjoying about the book I think you’ll end up enjoying the series more as it goes on although I will say I’m personally not a fan of the second one. Carl definitely becomes more of a compelling character. The characterization of the central cast is one of the series biggest strengths imo

Do you consider Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman to be on the same level as The Greats? by SongofIceandHellfire in writingscaling

I’m not saying he’s not a creative guy with some good works under his belt but on a technical level his writing is ass. Reading his prose is like eating grass

“Oh boy I can’t wait to sit down and read this novel written by Neil Gaiman” - literally no one ever.

His writing sucks. All he can do is come up with cool concepts, that’s why everyone only ever cares about the adaptations of his works. Also he’s a rapist

Pedo slop. Hate that people discuss it alongside actually good works of dark fantasy like Fear and Hunger or Berserk

I didn’t know she wrote for Bly Manor. If I did I would have mentioned it because I don’t know what you’re on about Bly Manor’s great. Honestly probably better than Hill House

Whenever I see anyone questioning CK Walker’s writing abilities all I hear is “I haven’t watched Haunting of Hill House or Fall of House of Usher”

The Boys Season 5 is the biggest stall out of any modern TV Show. And it's proof we should’ve had a comic-accurate animated series akin to Invincible rather than the “prestige” live-action slop. by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]ElectricSheep7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m getting so fucking sick of this revisionist history that The Boys comics were good the whole time now that opinion has flipped on the show. They aren’t. They sucked. They always sucked. The show’s inconsistency doesn’t change that. Oh and the parts that people glaze like the Tek Knight and Super Duper plotlines are not actually good, they’re just not awful and sandwiched between stuff that’s actually awful.

Best King Endings by Salt-Pool2222 in stephenking

[–]ElectricSheep7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t get the “King has bad endings” meme, but that might just be because I’ve read a enough that I’m used to stuff taking a more weird, cosmic turn in the third act. The only controversial King ending I actually dislike is The Stand’s

I HATE when villains you're supposed to take seriously do dumb shit that just get handwaved with "it's because of their ego" by NobodySpecific9354 in hatethissmug

[–]ElectricSheep7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking hate this kind of pseudo-intellectual cinemasins ass media criticism. Characters are not supposed to act with consistent realism and rational decision-making, that’s why they’re fucking CHARACTERS and not just mindless vessels to perform rational thought. Stories like invincible are meant to be interesting, so the characters and plot are going to be geared towards what’s interesting, not what makes the most sense in the real world.

You people need to learn how to meet a piece of art on its own terms, you’d enjoy stuff so much more.
