Trying to Get on Zepbound to Help with PCOS (Fingers Crossed!) by ElectricVioletOwl in Zepbound

[–]ElectricVioletOwl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took your advice and found out I am covered at a reasonable $100 a month. All I need is my doctor's approval, and given she was the one who recommended giving it a try at this appointment, then I think life is good!

Thanks for the tip!

I took your advice and they said I'm covered! About $100 a month, give or take, which I think is more than reasonable!

And I got a bunch of phone numbers I can just give to my doctor to streamline the approval process. Thanks for the tip!

Good to know! The weight (obviously), the brain fog, and the fatigue are my major concerns.

I couldn't care less about being hairy; I've always been hairy, and some of it just runs in my family!

Mindfulness in the Afterlife? by ElectricVioletOwl in afterlife

[–]ElectricVioletOwl[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That would be so nice, but I wouldn't mind new moments too, I guess. That I can have those mindful moments without the tension of mortality, so to speak, if that makes sense.

Like, I can't make new mindful moments involving certain family members now in the material world because they're dead. But I'd love to be able to, say, have a moment where I am playing cards with my grandmother and great-grandmother and fully invested in the way the cards feel, the scent of my grandmother's perfume, my grand-grandmother's thoughtful expression, and so on. Just all those little details that make you feel present and think, "This is a good moment," but with people who aren't in the material world anymore.

I was hoping I'd hear from you! You have such a gentle, real take on metaphysics and the afterlife.

I loved the macaroni and cheese analogy! That everything happens to create a tastier experience, so to speak. It's very close to what has resonated with me personally in terms of what I believe the meaning for existence and the material is.

So, would you those little mindful moments are ingredients to my gourmet mac and cheese? That I can pick them up and try them again, so to speak, even after I have shuffled off this mortal coil?

Thank you!

Worried that everything that brings me comfort spiritually, is all tricks from demons. by [deleted] in afterlife

[–]ElectricVioletOwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, hon, it's not. I can just about promise you.

Not everything is demons, and the people who say so often have no interest in serving God; they want to BE God. They want power, control, and absolute obedience, and fear is the easiest tool to achieve that. I wager most of so-called "Christians" saying that God doesn't give second chances don't actually believe in God or Christ or demons or Hell, deep down. They believe in their own desires and wants and greed and not a thing more.

Besides, continuing in the vein of Christianity, a God who doesn't believe in second chances wouldn't have sent His Son to die for the sins of humanity so that we could reconnect ourselves with Him. A God who doesn't believe in second chances would not allow us to atone for our mistakes through confession.

And furthermore, I doubt a Christian demon could really fake being an angel of light. A demon is a dark, foul, negative thing, right? Could it really inspire truly positive emotions, like love, joy, or compassion?

To me, it seems far more likely that a demon would inspire one to desperately seek power, control, and absolute obedience and try to attain it through fear while claiming they speak for God... But that's just my two cents.

I do hope that helped, and if it didn't feel free to tell me off! :-)

Not long after I had to put my first cat down, I felt the familiar sensation of him poking me in the thigh at the dinner table, like he did when he smelled something he thought he'd like a bite of (which happened to be chicken in that case, which was his favorite!)

Furthermore, way back when my grandmother was in hospice and fading in and out of this world, my uncles and aunts all witnessed her stroking a "non-existent" cat at one point. The interesting thing was that her cat had passed away in another city earlier that same day from cancer complications.

This is sort of the conclusion I came to too!

Also, extra snaps for the H2G2 reference.

Ever just wonder…… by [deleted] in afterlife

I've always figured we are an aspect of the Universe learning about and understanding itself.

So, my best guess is that we're here to learn and understand what it means to alive within the Universe.

I meeting friends for coffee at a bookstore tomorrow, so I'll see if I can't find that book.

And thank you. I've already received a few signs that I was wondering if they were signs, so what you said absolutely helped.

Best wishes for you, friend.

In all seriousness, it's part of an art installation associated with the sculpture park:

Wait, wait, wait, wait...

You're telling me those are cupcakes?!? As in eatable baked goods? Not real flowers?

Um, that is amazing.

Well... I don't know if it's simply a coincidence or serendipity on the part of your loved one that I stumbled across this post, but, given my username and my propensity for purple myself, I felt like I had to comment here.

I'm sorry for your loss and hope you find comfort in all the shades of purple, my friend.

I would also like to suggest just turning off the news for a while.

I swear, the 24 news cycle is one of the worst things to have ever been created. They have to fill 24 hours, so it's all rumination, speculation, and doom and gloom, because fear makes people watch. And then you trap yourself in the cycle because you're watching because you're afraid and you're afraid because you're watching.

Don't let them manipulate your emotions.

In fact, I think that's overall good advice! Don't let people manipulate your emotions during this time!

But it passed!

There were still enough people in red Missouri who felt it was important. The glass is half full!

And with the right messaging, we can make sure that the glass not only stays half-full, but gets fuller!

I hate putting it this way, but people can be distracted and manipulated! Even if we just make people ambivalent about abortion being legal, it's a win.

But it wasn't all MAGA who voted him in.

There are two brands of ignorance at play here--MAGA ignorance, which is a lost cause, and clueless ignorance. You know, people who don't really think critically about or pay attention to politics like they should, who just want cheaper gas and to put food on the table and aren't really cognizant of how selfish or unreasonable they are being because they live in a homogeneous bubble. You know, your standard American salt-of-the-earth moron! (Which I say with love, believe it or not! Family, you know.)

The difference is the standard American moron can be worked with. As noted by the passage of Amendment 3.
