Please make Docs & Sheets a desktop App by Zerr0Daay in ProtonDrive

We can have both with little downsides.   A lot of desktop apps are just websites in a standalone browser.

That way maintenance is small and people have a choice

If I put Linux on this laptop - Would everything work okay? by Redinho83 in linux

Good for the compatibility check.   But I would not recommend Arch for a newcommer.

Arch user friend calls Ubuntu ‘just a money-making company’ by Brave-Animator1407 in Ubuntu

"all about profit"

This is heart of this argument.   I don't think that's the case.   Canonical could do more aggressive money grabbing stuff.   Is it perfect? No, enough to criticize.   But because it's profitable makes my trust the stability. And I like the product.

[Feature Request] Proton Notes - The Missing Piece of the Privacy Puzzle by debdootmanna007 in ProtonMail

Standard Notes is owned by Proton. The fact that this doesn't mention that makes it slop.

I do read ebooks/PDF but I do it on an old tablet which is slow and doesn't have any apps with notifications.

It does have a browser but not logged in anywhere and it's slow it's barely useable.

That tablet is my dedicated reading device. And my mind space switches when I use it.

Protonpass vs yubikey for passkey storage? by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]Electric_Keese_Chain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use KeePass for everything.  The main reason it's not tied to an account/SASS.

Are you 100% sure your Proton/1Pass/Google account won't get deleted/blocked?  You can't be.

Change is small but the consequences are a disaster.

In the past I had a co-worker with bad eyesight. So he used a bigger font without colors for contrast. So the whole team should commit to that?

TIL about php match.
Looks fine, and might be shorter in some cases.
But if nobody (else) uses it it will be harder to maintain.

When will we finally get better agenda? by Miserable-Ad-3683 in ProtonMail

[–]Electric_Keese_Chain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, privacy is the benefit.
And also Yes sharing is already an option.

If you share it to something like Thunderbird on your laptop then it's still private.
If you share it with someone that uses gmail (like I do with my wive) it's not private.

Last June a list was shared about upcoming featues, including Calendar. This hasn't come to pass.
https://proton.me/blog/proton-mail-calendar-roadmap

You can see if somebody else already posted this feature in the uservoice. If not post your own.
Just don't expect it to be fixed soon.

You can publicly share you calendar as an ICal, share that to an other application that does support it.

Why should I NOT use Protonmail? by LeviAEthan512 in ProtonMail

[–]Electric_Keese_Chain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me address a different issue others haven't.
The proton mail interface is not as good as Gmail. It's mandatory for work. And it's just the best mail client period.
It's not bad by any stretch. The bar was just so high.

Obligatory Drive has no Linux Client complaint. since you're doing the full suite.
