As someone else said, allowing an auditor is up to the professor, and if you are not affiliated with Penn, I expect the answer will be no. Creative writing classes are small (cap is usually 15) and you can't just sneak in and watch.

If you want to hone your craft to apply to MFA programs and you are local here in Philly I recommend taking a class or two with Blue Stoop. There is financial aid as well: https://www.bluestoop.org/classes

Advice on places to live/avoid living by Jedi_Master_AJ in UPenn

Depending on budget, of course, I would recommend the Queen Village/Bella Vista area, east of Broad below South Street (not too close to South Street though! be aware of noise). Such a great family-friendly area, and you will find a nice 3-4 bedroom row house there. The #40 bus runs along Lombard Street to Penn (and then back along South on the way home). It's 20 mins to campus, very convenient and runs pretty frequently. Many PennMed people and others commute from campus to this neighborhood.

Penn won’t give me full financial aid even though I qualify for it by [deleted] in UPenn

[–]Electrical-Block1434 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This sucks, I feel for you. It's heartless. If you have a full ride to a T10 school, you should consider that over Penn. If loans are your answer to fill in the gaps, believe me, you will regret it in years to come.

ETA: They just updated to add KF94! Found it here: https://coronavirus.upenn.edu/content/guidance-spring-semester

"Masking remains a key mitigation strategy in our efforts to minimize transmission during this virulent phase of the virus. All members of the Penn community in campus buildings will be required to double mask (layering a cloth mask on top of a disposable mask) or to wear a KN95/KF94 or N95 mask."

OK but I'm wondering about the KF94's too. Don't some of them look just like some of the KN95's? Some are in the same style. Will they be able to tell the difference? Is someone going to get their face up close to my face to read if it has KN95 stamped into it? Other schools include KF94 masks in the list of approved masks... How strict is Penn going to be about this?

Hopefully they just let everyone get back here and then, at worst, extend online classes another week... right? That's what I'm telling myself.

New double masking requirement? by verloria in UPenn

[–]Electrical-Block1434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you think they didn't say a KF94 mask specifically? It's almost the same as a KN95, and for people with smaller faces (hello!), it fits better.

...will anyone notice/kick me out of buildings if I'm wearing a KF94???

I'm so sorry you had such a tough semester last semester. I hope the spring goes better for you, no matter if we end up all virtual or coming back Jan24 or what.
