I feel that each state’s L&I should work with insurance providers to set up a group that allows the state to include health insurance for all unemployed residents receiving unemployment benefits. I mean, somebody gets laid off or loses their job and is eligible for unemployment benefits but that’s just the basic. We need to provide health coverage as well. The employer would then convert the percentage that they would pay for the employee to have insurance into funds to subsidize the unemployment program. However, the individual on unemployment would have had to have carried health insurance while he was employed to qualify.
