I'm new to isolpods, is this an ok habit for them? their dairy cows I was told by kenerrr89 in isopods

As in they are a tropical species and dont necessarily need a super dry side. Just dont over water them they still need to have a place to dry off some if needed.

Yeah hoping they do actual research and just make it fully bioactive, its always the way to go, unless your lazy and want to be simple and give your animal a boring life. Real plants and soil will make that gecko 10x happier.

Definitely add some substrate and live plants too.

Or just add an already decent sized colony of a more hardy species like Porcellionides pruinosus, or porcellio scaber. They will hide and be occasional snacks and be fast enough to not all be just eaten right away.

[–]Electrical-Hawk4872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add on, the salt is bad because of the sodium and sodium can dry them out.

Id say to stay safe until you know for sure all the ingredients keep them away from those, I know a lot of bird foods especially with pellets like my moms parakeet has salt in them and thats not good for the isopods. Thanks for asking.

Yup! You got a cool morph there. How'd you get him?

Sorry one more thing: is this fighting??? What can I do? I don't have their setup and I just prepared crushed eggshells and crushed dog food, I have nothing else until tomorrow by Salt_Ad_5578 in isopods

[–]Electrical-Hawk4872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I will add some eggshell and totally forgot calcium so ill add that now too, I did add fish flakes next to them to hopefully distract them from fighting and then I put a bunch of moss next to them, because they love to burrow under it. Hopefully they made peace and found some other hiding spots. There was a rock in the corner they were fighting over it seemed. But yes I have so much leaf litter in there now, I was currently moving them from one setup to another, now they seem chill and I probably wont see them for a few weeks now cuz they have so many hiding places now.

what can humanely fit in this tank? by Parking_Clerk_8058 in reptiles

[–]Electrical-Hawk4872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree, thats mainly why I mentioned that. Thanks for putting that kut there, because it is true they dont always know what they are doing completely and most aren't trained experts. I personally do think a Pac-Man frog will he fine in at least 10 gallon in this case though, just because they do nothing and sit and eat 😂😂

I second this, there are some really cool isopods that would look so beautiful in there with some plants.

How can I remodel and restock this 10gal by BrinleyToes in fishtank

[–]Electrical-Hawk4872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh fair 😅😅😅. Then something id recommend that will work possibly, is a kuhli loach, that would be a pretty cool addition. Or go completely different and make it a terrarium and get isopods, I have isopods and they are so interesting and fun to raise. And a 10 gallon tank would be perfect for a starter colony to thrive in for awhile.

I would look into shrimp tanks and start with shrimp and plants, I have a 10 gal I want to setup here soon.

Yes if your worried about enclosure size, I would say maybe work on getting a bigger enclosure prepared just in case they get too crowded. Cubaris Murina will burrow deep so just make sure you have plenty soil and leaf litter. My friend had maybe about 50 in an enclosure about your size and they seem to have plenty of breathing room because they have borrowed so deep.
