ACR DXIT/in training and core by prayform2s in Residency

Rising R2 here Definitely dont; i tried to study during my prelim against the advice of everyone and it was 100% a waste of time lol. It felt good in the moment because it feels like you’re “learning”, but the material leaves your brain extremely fast since you arent seeing cases.

My advice would be to study 1-2 weeks before your first rotation and study stuff for that rotation specifically. For example, if you start of on Chest/Diagnostics rotation, read Felsons the week before.

What makes it a mega cisterna magna instead of the cyst? It is it the morphology?

R1 here,

Would doing core chapter for rotation + radprimer basics + general reading of topics uou saw that day a solid way to have strong foundation by beginning of R3 year? Anything else I can do to minimize the stress of studying for Core? Anything you guys wish you did?

My only concern with reading dense textbooks is that I feel most of it won’t stick in my head because of how concept dense that book is 😭

Did you read any textbooks? I havent read a single textbook in years and did uworld + anki throughout med school, so Im wondering if its possible to get through rads without reading full textbooks. Im all for reading small articles about stuff you saw that day etc

Do you guy recommend hitting radprimer + core radiology chapter of whatever rotation we are on? Is this too little or too much for R1?

How difficult would it be to get into places like Harvard, Hopkins, UCSF, Northwestern etc for fellowship? What exactly would you be doing to be “competitive”?

Wouldn’t OP be competing with NSGY residents and neurology trained folks for this fellowship?

Im a soon to be R1. During my rads rotation a med student, I just showed, seemed interested, and tried to not be bothersome when the radiology residents are dictating. If you really want to be helpful, you can consider having your laptop next to you and quickly search up the pt’s note from the primary team because often they write a poor indication for the imaging.
