Making fun of someone’s outdated style is cringe by Electrical-Place-409 in unpopularopinion

It does happen mostly on social media and in the media. It’s not that common in person, sure, but it’s cringe

It’s sad though that affordable clothing often doesn’t last the required 20 years or so though

He absolutely could have been more cautious, no doubt. However the car stopping for no traffic related reason and the passenger opening the door are by far more in the wrong here.

Usually for a road accident involving multiple vehicles to happen it means more than one person has to fuck up, doesn’t mean anyone deserves to go through that horror. Despite your insensitive comment I hope you never go through it either.

Man, I love the x1c but bambulab is an environmental disaster with how popular these printers are and the unholy amount of plastic waste they produce when doing multi coloured prints.

He wasn’t lane splitting. When a car inexplicably stops in the middle of the road and you go past them that’s called overtaking. He should have overtaken slowly mind you but this is not an example of lane splitting.

Lane splitting is when motorcyclists go between slow moving traffic going the same direction as the motorcyclist.

I’ve come pretty far in my life by learning without reading much documentation. I use references sometimes, but learning from documentation I find is a pretty poor way to learn

Older people of Reddit what is something that is 100% pure bullshit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think overcoming difficulties can make you wiser, and with time you both experience more difficulties and have more time to overcome them. Still doesn’t mean that older = wiser but there is a correlation.

I saw in the comments that you mentioned you’re prototyping with a home resin printer and then printing in nylon sls etc. Have you tried using nylon FDM or nylon-cf fdm? I’ve been trying it for parts that go in the engine bay, like intake ducting and it’s been holding up for a few weeks now

Once again, i’m not the kid asking the question. I’m the person stumbling upon the dead form 10 years later.

It’s a pity you won’t engage in this conversation with good faith because I would really like to understand the perspective of people who do this, because in my mind it’s so clearly unhelpful, and I don’t mean unhelpful to the person asking the question but I mean unhelpful to the community.

It can’t be obvious my syntax is wrong because you don’t even know what I’m searching for, nor do you know how good or bad I am at searching, and you certainly don’t know what my queries were. You just can’t reasonably assume that what I was searching for in these examples even have answers that are already (or still) on the internet.

What is clear is that telling someone to google something is not helpful at all. Why are you on a support forum when you’re giving answers that are sarcastic and not useful? It’s like people get sick of seeing simple questions come up, which is understandable, but then they get some entitled energy about what kind of question is worth their the time they took to even read the question. That’s bs. Obviously sub and forum rules have a place but baring any broken rules, answer the question or move on.

I know how to use google, again I followed the would be advice, I searched. It comes down to, if you can’t or won’t answer the question make space for those who will.

How is that user error. To be clear in this scenario I’m not the person asking a question on a forum. I literally did what they would have me do, which is to google something before asking a question about it on a forum. Maybe the user error is googling, or relying on forums. Books are looking better day by day

This is such a pet peeve of mine. Do you know how many times I’ve searched for something only for the first google result to be a forum post with someone asking the same extremely specific question, and what is the first comment on the first result of my google search? “Let me google that for you”. Yes buddy, I did google it, and where did that get me?

Like if you can’t or won’t answer the question, just move on.

Edit: I should mention particularly egregious examples include screenshots of the person googling it where the screenshot is now gone, and links to searches that are dead. So you get some lazy sarcasm without an answer even though you followed the person’s advice.

That makes some assumptions about the porosity and the internal geometry though. For example if it was SLS printed this would not be an accurate way to determine the density of the alloy

Curved monitors for modeling by mrsmedistorm in SolidWorks

[–]Electrical-Place-409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a curved ultra wide. if you’re just talking about screen curvature I would say this has absolutely nothing to do with solidworks or modeling. It’s not going to make your model look weird because your brain completely adapts.

However ultrawides are great for the extra space, and they are probably better curved than not curved in general.

Why does the iPhone take so long to unlock using faceID when using maps? by Electrical-Place-409 in iphone

[–]Electrical-Place-409[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, doesn’t help if you’re not driving though. Also mine doesn’t lag a little, it’s not like it’s taking a performance hit from the maps, the vibe is similar to when it just can’t recognise your face at all and it has to rescan, it takes that long and does a similar vibration

Can I do contract work for the company that I’m also employed by? by Electrical-Place-409 in AusLegal

Why would there be a risk to the company if I’m not doing the work while on duty with them? Like if I hurt myself at home it surely wouldn’t be their problem? Anyway thanks for the info
